Nonthaburi is one of the central provinces of Thailand and is considered to be more or less a part of Greater Bangkok. It is the land of elegant palaces, magnificent royal gardens, Ko Kret's famous pottery, notably old and beautiful temples, delicious durian and the gorgeous city hall.
The most popular place to visit is Ko Kret, a small island in the Chao Phraya River which serves as a refuge to the Mon tribes who are famous for their pottery. Koh Kret is another world compared to Bangkok and much of it retains the feel of a rustic village with wooden shacks propped against palm trees and the occasional crumbling temple. The main attraction is simply walking around looking at the offerings in the numerous pottery shops. Because of its close proximity to Bangkok there are limited accommodation options in Nonthaburi.
