Accommodation and facilities:
The reception staff were very pleasant but as for the hotel I don't think I would stay there again. The room was fine but the juices in the fridge were out of date, after one shower the water ran out in the room and took some time to come back.

I really enjoyed staying here, i like the tv in the room,nice shower and bathroom area, air con and stocked fridge with cold beer,all perfect then open doors out on to the balcony to view the sea and beach,but because the trees are thick and tall, you just dont get that view, that you wish for, if the company was able to lose a few trees there then that would be perfect, but why should we destroy the trees when we can walk to the beach, i dont know, it was just a shame we could not see the ocean view because of the trees. i also booked online, and when i arrived the hotel had no record of a booking, it was akward..but overall i enjoyed my stay and would like to stay again sometime, wth thanks Bruce Anderson

For the price I ve no complaints. Complex itself was lovely, on thre sea front, two good pools, a 24hr restaurant and bar and another restaurant bar overlooking the sea. Bungalows set in well maintained gardens. Basic fan bungalows are just that. Basic. They do have good cable tv with sports and entertainment channels in english, hot showers and flushing toilets. Fan cooling was adequate. Air con rooms much more nicely decorated. On the minus side, there is airplane noise between 6am and midnight. To sum up, great value for money. I d stay again if on a budget trip. Recommended

Hotel was great. Reception let us check in early which was nice, especially after traveling by bus from bangkok for 12hours. Room was decent size for 3 people, sea view, nice decor and clean. Nice swimming pool, nice seaview restaurant, nice food but abit pricey. Perfect location as we went to a pier which was within walking distance from the hotel to get to koh phangan for new year eve full moon party! :) Overall good value!

i am sorry to say that the room was awful, to my opinion it doesnt even have the standard-minimum quality its supposed to offer. the sheets very dirty, the walls too. its obvious that this hotel in koh samui doesnt respect the visitor, they only want to take your money, they are not interested for a good reputation. i knew about the aiplane issue in advance, so i was prepared, but this is something elseto experience. the hotel is very close to the airport. last but not least, i am very displeased with the behaviour of the staff, they were unfriendly, they were laughing at us and they only want to take your money. imagine that for a transport to the big budha pier (which is 5 minutes walk- but we wanted a transport because we had lots to carry) they asked 100 baht!! unbelievable! we found a taxi and the driver agreed to take us there for half the price. i would recommend it only to people who want to stay one night there (also for sex purposes, as they offer condoms in the room) or for people who want a cheap solution for the samui standards and they cant be bothered with quality details. it is not a value for money im afraid, sorry.

Hotel is directly at big buddha beach. we only stayed one night, to get our early flight at 6.00 back to bangkok. Hotel is 10mins. from the airport, they have a free transfer, that was great ! Room was ok, but MANY gnats in the room (coming again and again from outside, leak door ! Sketolene-spray in the room for free (OK!) Minibar with drinks, cookies, chips and some other useful things were available at the room (toothbrush, sketelone etc). For 1 night ok, planes going over the hotel. Area is ok, Food ok too !

Great spot if you are looking to go the full moon party in koh phangan as this is just a short walk to the pier which takes u directly to the party... standard rooms with a/c and all that we needed for the stay... the day staff are very cheerful and happy compared to the difficult night staff

Hotel was clean and functional, good location for beach but very noisy as near aiport, but for the price this is what you would expect. Also great location for the ferry to Koh Tao etc. When you arrive you have to give a 500bht deposit for the mini bar which was a surprise (although this is refundable when you check out). We gave a 1000bht note and got no change, we queried this and they said they had given us the change when they hadn t, despite numerous conversations with the manager etc they would not budge so watch your money!!

Situated 5 minute walk from the pier and plenty to do nearby, No complaints really you get what you pay for and at £7 per night this is fine, only booked for 1 night as we had an 6am flight to bangkok. The staff were very good came to our room at 4.30am and drove us th the airport free of charge.

On arrival the reception were very helpful. The rooms where to a good standard and also had a clean swimming pool which made are stay very enjoyable. over-all the mermaid resort is a great place to stay and would recommend to back packers on a budget. BUT.... our room is right under the flight path of landing planes. after a few went over you didnt tend to take much notice of them so if you can put up with a few planes you will love the resort.

This is a good hotel for one or a few nights stay. Clean and good bungalows. The airport is very close. So you will definately hear the planes, but it didn´t bother us. It is within walking distance from the piers and to a market and some temples. The pool looked dirty, but people were using it, so it cant be that bad. The hotel has two parts. One on the beach and one on the other side of the big road were the pool and the bungalows are. The beach itself is not the best. The sand is nice, you can take a swim, but it is too narrow to but a towel on.

SiamWebHosting is usually very good. This time we was a little confused. On SiamWebHosting. A little unclear they offer a pickup from the pier. We noticad that there also was a cost.And a very high price (300Bpp), it is 5 minutes walk.

Disgusting. On their website are totally different photos from the pool, as if he were close to the sea. No one says that the planes fly right over your house. a terrible noise. Book this hotel in August for 2 days and no longer able to stay there. First, the room was not near the sea. We had to go through the busy road which caused inconvenience. The apartment itself is very old, the walls of the cracks, absolutely not that. that is in the photo in internete.v Number crawl lizards. Staff very unfriendly. Stay away from this hotel if you drive on the same beach with another kilometer you will find great small hotels, where you will find rooms with breakfast right on the beach at the same price .. And no planes over your head. This hotel is only for students.

Good value for money hotel. Well maintained, friendly staff. Away from the hubub of Chaewang Beach but close enough to go to either Chaewang or Bophut fisherman's village by bike in 10 minutes. Their good rooms (Super Deluxe) are excellent and beautifully located. If you book the super deluxe room, make sure that's what you get because there's some grey area between the superdeluxe, deluxe and Sea Facing rooms. Overall, a great experience and we will definitely go back again. Free airport transfers were given as promised. Yasmeen & Neville Daruvala.

I stayed at Samui Mermaid for 3weeks with my boyfriend, two brothers, one girlfriend and my mother. We had a fantastic time. Everything was perfect, we each had a cosy little one bedroom ensuite house to ourselves all next door to eachother. The staff were amazing, couldn't do enough for us. The food was cheap The TV was great, films every night. The food in was good also, and very cheap. Also a great sports bar next door with lovely toasties for about a euro! Also if you are looking for good english food the picnic basket a few door up do a fab sunday roast.. You can get a full body thai massage 1hr anywhere for 4 euro. Only 15mins to the main town Chaweng if you are looking for a mad one :) I had a fantastic holiday and will recommend it to all my friends. Also, Jame - the bar man deserves a mention, he was so kind to us and on his day off came with us to show us where we could hug lion cubs and even got a picture with a Tiger!! This resort's service was the only horrible experience during our 2 week vacation in Thailand. They asked for the details of our arrival - but no one showed at the airport so we had to take a cab and pay app. 400bht as extra (of course they excused themselves saying that they were around but it is a very small airport so if they had really wanted, would have found us...) The place where the resort is located has no normal seashore (actually, only a quite dirty port) and was far from the real and enjoyable KohSamui (like Chaweng or Lamai). We originally wanted to book only for one night but the minimum booking period was 2 nights. We tried to make a deal with the hotel management to check out 1 day earlier and get back some of the money we already payed since the resort was not what we were expecting (no airport tranfer, dirty beach, no nightlife around...) but they were not flexible at all. Finally we moved to Chaweng to a beautiful resort and let our money for the guest-friendly hotel management...

The superior room for 1200B is a bargain although you need to be aware that the planes are loud when taking off and landing!! Didn't bother us though, and I would highly recommend this place. Oh and the food is excellent too!

We chose this hotel because it was cheap and near the pier and airport. For only one night's rest for going from Samui to another island, it was acceptable, but if you actually wanted to relax, I wouldn't recommend it. The pool was not clean, the beach wasn't good and airplanes flew overhead until late at night and started again very early in the morning. The room was semi-clean.

This resort was so nice and such a bargain, we extended our stay here. The town was nice for relaxing stroll for dinner. The restaurant served good food with a smile. Hotel staff was helpful. Rooms were nice. Pool was nice. The beach is nothing too special - kind of cloudy water. Approaches the staircase to the resort at high tide (no beach during high tide). Very convenient access to ferries and piers for day trips.

Although there was a miscommunication about the arrivaldate, they arranged another hotel for one night when they appeared full. Also when there were no taxis available to bring us to the ferry, they offered to bring us. Will certainly come again. No problems with noises of airplanes. We actually found it a very fascinating sight to see them so close and noise did not bother us. Nice beach, pool. Would be nice though if they would supply towels for pool/beach.

We stayed for just one night, and to be honest, you would have to pay me to stay any longer. Although a free pick-up from the airport was promised, after standing around for 40 minutes we realised it wasn't happening and made our own way (taxi fare was almost the same as the room rate). When we arrived and asked why we weren't picked up, the receptionist said she forgot and laughed it off, when we mentioned a compensation, she just ignored us. In addition, the bungalows are right on the plane landing path, so sometimes it feels that the roof of the bungalow is coming off! You can really find better in Koh Samui, at least with less rude staff (even for resort standards!)

I have stayed in Samui Mermaid before, hence the reason for going back. The rooms are very reasonably priced and location is perfect for the north/north east of the island, not to mention the bars and eateries along Bang Rak Road. Staff are very friendly and helpful, restaurants serve good but cheap food and being on located on the beach, makes it feel like you have that bit of paradise on your door step. Well worth a visit.

It was in close distance from the airport (which means you can hear the airplanes very well). Good place for your first night after arrival. Good service and beautiful view. We had a seaview room, but our view was just partial, but it was about 5 second walk away from the beach. (good beach). We had a bad luck in timing because part of the hotel was under construction. (loud noises starting from 7 am.) We also had a car picking up, but we gave the wrong time so our driver waited for us for over an hour and we didn't show up. Sorry about that. All in all the hotel was clean and nice. We recommend. :)

Ok resort, reasonable location. Great restaurant (same resort, just over the street) with the best Thai Green Curry we had anywhere during our stay in Samui. Rooms are clean and pleasant, but we had to have cold showers for the first day...but in my opinion..for the same price there were better nearby alternatives. Breakfast was not included in the price of our rooms because we had booked online(???) despite a sign in reception stating all room prices included breakfast.And the waitress in the restaurant was very unhelpful. Also we were told that we would get a free airport pick up, but the hotel did not send a taxi and said they had no record of this arrangement. (They did not refund the 400 baht taxi fare) All in all, an OK resort suitable for maybe a few days if you are visiting that end of Samui, or want to be near to the airport.

I liked the hotel. The only problem I had was, if you don't hang the make room up now sign on the door, they will NOT make up your room automatically. However, the food at the adjacent restaurant was excellent (24-hour room service!). It was also well-priced. The bar next to the rooms on the side of the road opposite the lobby is amazing. The bartender's name is Bud. He's been working there for 3 years and he's quite the character. Order the Baghdad Special, it's a great drink. All in all, the rooms are nothing to call home about. They re extremely basic - However, the price is right, and it's in a relatively calm location versus being in Chaweng or Lamai. The bungalows and the pool area are all neat and nice. The staff is pretty friendly, and they have internet access/wifi for (cheap) purchase in the lobby. They will give you a free ride to/from the airport (10 mins away). All in all, I stayed about 10 days and don't regret it one bit. It was a good value. If you re a light sleeper and plan on sleeping during the day... Planes pass overhead about once an hour/once every two hours. Very close overhead.

We stayed just one night before we headed to Koh Phangan, as the ferry terminal is just 2 mins up the road. When we arrived, they weren't aware of our booking, but despite having booked a seaview and paid for one, we were given the room closest to the main road. There was a party on in the bar opposite till 2am, with loud music which was a pain! Although this may just be a once off? The beach was beautiful that the hotel backed on to, but the pool was small and the food just ok in the bar. Breakfast was meant to be included, but we had to pay for it, but it was cheap anyway. Wouldn't recommend for a few days or weeks holiday, but perfect if flying in to Koh Samui and need to overnight before getting ferry to Koh Phangan, they even dropped us to the terminal 2 mins up the road, which was very nice of them.

to the customer service center thank you for your email. but i have to say that i will not recommend your hotel to anybody here in germany. as i feel cheated. we had to put 500 bath per room behind for the minibar in the room. our friend checked out an hour before us to catch his flight, when it came for us to check out, we only got told that the money has been givin?to our friend. now as we are back here in germany we spoke to our friend and he denied any knowledge of it. so you have to understand that we are not very happy to know that we have been cheated. as we do not really speak any english we could not really get our point across. so as i am going to thailand every year i will not consider staying at your hotel again. regards torsten gaßmann

The room was clean and adequate for our needs, a stop-over. We arrived at 9.30pm and left early the following morning. Being under the flight path I would not have wanted to stay for any length of time but was fine for a night.

Great location on the beach - near airport but no real problem with noise. Staff very helpful. Deluxe rooms pretty good BUT showers not good - cold water. leaking and poor drainage. Would stay again though as we enjoyed the location.

A very comfortable resort on low price level. The staff is very friendly and is 24 hours in charge. I was picked up at the airport as well as brought back to there by a hotel owned comfortable car. The rooms and bungalows on the other side of the main part of the hotel are suitable indeed for the low price and are cleaned up and equipped with new towels every day. If the noises of incomming airplanes will not disturb you, you will enjoy your stay at Mermaid resort any way, like I did. I would come back there any time.

Stayed one night as it was close to Big Buddha Pier for the ferry over to Ko Phagnan. The bungalows were very nice and there was enough amenities as you would need (pool, bar, restaurant. The surrounding area was a bit of a dissapointment as it was mainly desserted of much life and the bars were quiet. I think if you stayed for more than 2 nights you would be better off further along in Bophut or fishermans village. Also right under flight path - very noisy.

I had an absolutely fantastic time here. I can not fault the place one the bit. The fan room is sufficient at 600 baht a night. The staff can not do enough for you. Bert in the bar by the pool is also good fun and make sure all your needs are catered for. I stayed at the Mermaid 3 times during my 3 week visit to Thailand and I will definately go back without doubt... FANTASTIC PLACE!!

Stayed in Mermaid Resort when transiting through Samui island. Helpful staff, nice and clean pool, rooms are ok and clean. The place is located very near the airport and the planes taking off will cause major noise. For planespotters, a great place though! They also have free transportation to the airport.

If you will be staying here on a full moon party night, be aware that in the cheaper/standard rooms you may experience some early morning noise. Pools and restaurants are lovely as are the staff. Our bathroom was plagued by an awful smell - think the sewerage system was being overhauled? Promixity to airport is a plus if you don't mind the noise and seeing low flying/landing planes right above you!

i booked the hotel for 2night, and requested the hotel pick up service already, but when i arrivalled SAMUI airport at 07:05am on Sep 29, there was no body come to pick up us. i was waiting for 30 mins, but there is still no hotel person come to pick up, at the airport meet point,one person he works at siameservices.com company help me to call the hotel to cornfirm if they have come to pick up me, but the hotel phone is no answer, at last i took a taxi to the Mermaid Resort,cost me 200bath, eventhough the hotel is not bad, but gave me the bad firstly feeling. so i canceled one night, and checked out on Sep 30.

we only stayed at the Mermaid resort for 2 nights. It's very affordable and close to the airport. the staff was very friendly and helpful. They had a free taxi to the airport even at 5:00am. THe airplane flying over was amuzing yet frightening. just to let you know they have 2 areas of the hotel. one side is the beach side and the other is across the street (becareful crossing.) we stayed across the street which is the cheaper accomodations and which is the party people area but you can always go across the street to the nice restaurant and courtyard. All in all its wasn't that bad. I would stay here again just for a transfer night.

I was a little bit woried about the airplane coming over Mermaid Resort. After a short while i was getting used to it. I was not picked up at the airport and had to pay 300 bath to a taxi. Later i found out that they mis understood me and thought i was coming in the morning instead of in the evening. During my stay there was a sort of lizzard in my room. On Samui they called it a Kekkoo. I saw it as my personal pet. It will not harm me. If you need a rest Mermaid offers good price value. Rent for 200 bath a day a scooter at the resort and cruise this beautiful exotic island. You will have a great time.

Send ALL booking information to the hotel cc. This will prevent misunderstanding. (22:00 pm means 10 o clock at night and not 10 o clock in the morning.

For 600 Baht a night the standard room has everything you need to be comfortable. A good bed, tv with 40 channels, a good working fan but most importantly hot water and a flushing toilet. Management and staff were also very friendly. It is close to the airport and planes do fly over at a very low altitude but not often enough to be annoying. I will definitely be staying here again if I ever return to Samui.

Very clean hotel. The only little problem is that the airport is right near and you hear airplanes landing every ten minutes. Personally that didnt even bother me. the room itself is amazingly clean and everything is just perfect. the best place ive stayed so far on the whole island.

Good service, we arrived around midnight and it was good to see that there was someone there to show us to our room. We only stayed here one night as we were leaving to go to Koh Phangan the next day. The ferry is only a 10 minute walk away. The room was good and the bathroom was OK. Hope you like planes because you are close to the airport and they fly pretty low overhead!

hotel staff not very helpfull , some of them VERY rude . never got picked upn at airport had to get our own taxi . booked 2 double rooms and got twin rooms , wouldn,t move us or even appologise . pool bar was full of people taking drugs including the bar man .....apart from all that it is a nice hotel resort .
