We were planning to stay 2 days and then move to one of the other islands or another beach. But after the 2 days we decided to stay the full 8 days because it was a most beautifull place with a very nice private corner of the beach 1 minute from the room and a very nice pool area just outside the room. The surounding area is very quiet but only a few minutes to walk and you are in the buzzy resturant&bar + shopping street of Chaweng beach. Next door was a very nice tailor and a event agent who arranged nice day trips for us. Loved the stay and will definately come back! As the reception where the private beach is (it is not obvious). Should also mention that the included breakfast and the general service was excelent. In total, very good value for the money spent!

The resort is an older set up but very sound. Every thing worked, the rooms and grounds were neat and tidy. The staff were very polite and tried to help where ever possible.

Nice place, clear sea, clear beach. The staff is not so attentive to guests. There was many cellers on the beach and we bored from them. Breakfast usual like in any hotel. Room is clear and the towels are white. About food - we can advise the Japan restaurant on the Chaweng beach road and we don't advise the Steak house on the same street. We had the great walks in evenings on the Chaweng beach, near sea. I wish everybody the great rest on the Samui. :)

Fine Bungalow and pool. Breakfast ok, but there are lot of cats in the restaurant. It is not ok. the beach are thr best on chaweng.The dogs on the beach are nice and not dangerous, but the staff kill them if the cath them.

Eine traumhafte Kulisse am Strand wie auch die Anlage selbst. Es gibt allerdings ein Problem, das während der 2 Wochen latent vorhanden war und auch nach mehreren persönlichen Gesprächen mit dem Managment sowie der Rezeption nicht gelöst wurde, das sind die streunenden Hunde, die täglich am Strand herumlaufen. Diese Hunde, man muß es so drastisch wiedergeben -pissen und scheißen- an den Strand.Ein absolutes no go. Zusätzlich laufen diese Köter jedem hinterher, der etwas essbares bei sich hat. Es gibt allerdings viele Reisende, die diese Hunde füttern. Die Problematik, gibt es bei fast allen Anlagen. Es ist für die Zukunft wünschenswert, hier eine gemeinsame Lösung im Sinne aller Urlauber zu erarbeiten, denn Urlaub ist doch die schönste Zeit im Jahr!

Bonjour, Nous avons séjourné en famille dans cette hôtel. Ns ne le recommandons pas. Les réceptionniste n étaient vraiment pas sympatique surtout Mme le dragon. Elle ne parle pas elle gueule. Nous sommes arrivé à 21h00 le soir nos lits étaient sale et il avait oublié de mettre un lit enfant de plus. Déjeuner : il ne faut surtout pas arrivé plus tard que 930 car il ne faut plus rien à manger. Les tables sont sale et le personnel n est pas dutout souriant! Concernant les bungalow ils ont bien subi les inondations du mois de mars 2011 (il ne faut pas's attendre à du luxe). Quand il y a des coupures ils ne sont pas très rapide pendant 4-5 heures deux jours de suite. Heureusement qu ils sont sur la route de chaweng. Drôle de politique pour un hôtel ou tu paies quand même plus de 130.-- la chambre.

Very nice hotel. The first rooms were in a seperate building to the rest of the hotel but both the beach and pool were not far. The pool was great and the beach was nice and a bit quiter than Chawend itself. My only real complaint was the compulsary new years eve dinner. I was very annoyed at the whole thing, it was way too expensive, the food was terrible, we only got 1 free drink and then we had to pay, even for soft drink. The free drink included wine but not beer! the entertainment was poor. The whole thing left me, and many other guests, feeling very ripped off.

Very nice hotel with great swimming pool. The rooms were very large and clean. The beach was about 1 min walk and had free sunbeds. The hotel is at the end of Chaweng Beach, so it's a little walk to get into town, but there are taxis outside of the hotel. We had breakfast and evening meal included and the food options were OK. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are looking for a quiet, relaxing stay.

A great Bungalow in Samui. We had a beach bungalow which was large & clean the only thing not in the bungalow was a safety deposit box and you had to pay 10TB every time you used it in reception! Pool lovely,clean & large. Beach nice and always able to get sun beds! Breakfast nice and a good choice for everyone. These Bungalows are quiet and right at the end of the bust road so you will need to get taxi's into the town (5mins) walking would take around 15mins. Altogether lovely bungalows and would definatly stay again.

We was recurring customer in this hotel since the last 10 Years, but no more again since this trip. First Bungalow never take care about your room reservation request, The last three years we have requested with two month in adavance, we never have the room requested when arrive, all time negotiation and have the requested room in the followings days. You will be charged to return to the airport and if the coach was not on Airport, you will never recived the promised money back for the service. If the Beach in front still a very good one on Samui, the price / Service level arrived at ground state! The good is good but very expensive regarding the quality you paid for a 4 stars in a 2 stars hotel. The price of the beer, coke and food is very expensive. A good recommandation, take a other hotel in Chaweng Beach, and enjoy the Beach in front of this Hotel, no use theyr service.

Friendly and welcoming staff. Spacious rooms, clean and nice. Pool area very nice but for us, with a 6 year old, the pool was too deep. I could hardly reach the bottom with my toes. The beach was secluded and private but with alot of beach vendors. The hotel is a bit off the shopping and restaurants in Chaweng. I would rate this a good 3star hotel.

When traveling to Asia always remember to have low expectations...however this is difficult to do when paying 150 euros a night. It was our dream to stay in a beach bungalow, but when we arrived it was very rustic, smelled musty, and needed updating. Breakfast was included, but we often slept in as it left more to be desired...plus the wild dogs that were always running around the food service area and the pool... After one night on the beach we had a look at the pool side bungalow and were pleased at the new renovations, quietness, and cleanliness of this location...and it was half the price! Overall it was an OK experience...perhaps I will look further down Chaweng Beach next time..

There´s only two good things about this hotel and thats the beach and the pool! I have a hard time finding words to describe how bad the rest is!!! We booked a Seaview bungalow and I can tell you that there was nothing seaview about it at all! Two or three of the bungalows had a seaview and an ok location the rest is not worth the money at all. I have learned the lesson to never book a hotel where I have to pay in advance. We wanted to leave the place but it was too much money involved. Staff at the front desk were rude and had absolutly no interest in helping the guests. For example, the Internet was down for several days and they didn´t pay back the money for unused time to guests that was checking out. The restaurant took forever to serve your food and when you got it it´s cold. We tried it a few times just to see if we had been unlucky the times before, but no. Many guests left the restaurant because just a few in their company got what they had ordered. To sum things up, this is an overpriced hotel that only has the beach and the pool to offer. I´m sure you can find much nicer places with equally good beach and pool acess for this money! I´m glad that we had stayed at two really nice hotels before this one, because First Bungalow does not represent the land of smiles! We (a family of four) will never stay there again!

Hotel reviews are there for a purpose...to inform people of what the hotel is really like. I just wish I had taken heed to the many reviews about the first bungalow. If you wish to be insulted by incrediably rude, arrogant and disrespectful reception/front desk staff then most certainly you need to book at this resort. No problems ever with the room cleaning staff, in fact they should be the ones on the front desk if they could speak English. I blame the management of this hotel for training their staff on how to be offensive. I m sure that others have had a wonderful holiday experience at this place but for this family of six, we will never return or ever recommend it to anyone.

Located on corner it was beautiful spot and the front beach bungalows are worth it. The Resort is not as flashy looking as a some, and its several minutes more walk to the busy side of town but the beach is much more secluded. I asked my girlfriend to marry me there and she said yes. The perfect setting. Staff friendly. We hired a scooter and motorbike from across the road and you can get around the island at your own leisure.

The resort is a little out of town but shares a rather exclusive beach with five or six higher end hotels in a large cove populated by married couples over 30. I immediately upgraded to a beach bungalow which was metres from the beach and worth every penny. Relatively quiet beach and sensible folk. Accomodation was good, but satellite TV had few english channels and few quality channels. Good buffet breakfast which made you get up for it ( 6-10 am). Loved my stay because of the location and nice beach. I have reservations about having to pay over-priced taxi fares and less than friendly staff. I reported brown jellyfish in the water where i was swimming, in vicinity to rocks. A member of staff ame to see me in less than friendly manner and i had to remonstrate with her I was trying to be responsible for good of guests. When i paid, nobody thanked me for my stay. Still a good place to stay, and good massage service on the beach. Do your homework on brown jellyfish though.

First we were booked for the new building room which was a disappoinment. No window,only frostedclass door to toilet and balcony. There was no view, depressing. Later we got a nicer room around the pool. Pool area was beautiful. Price-quality is not very good, a bit overpriced. Beach is wonderful but you need to reserve sunbeds early which is quite dull. Breakfast tasty and sufficient. Overall it was ok for 6 nights stay but we rather not visit this hotel again.

Wir haben 1 Woche im Resort verbracht. Als wir abends ankamen, bekamen wir ein Zimmer, das wir nicht gebucht hatten. Kein Fenster im Schlafraum, nur im Bad. Von der Balkontüre vom Bad aus blickte man genau auf den Balkon vom Nebenhaus in ungefähr 1 Meter Entfernung. Wir beschwerten uns, bekamen aber erst am nächsten Tag das gebuchte Zimmer, allerdings mit Einzelbetten nicht Doppelbett, wie bestellt. Der Pool war am 1. Tag schon ziemlich trüb, am 2. Tag war er grün und es wollte ihn niemand benutzen. Die Gratisliegen am Strand musste man am besten morgens um 7 Uhr reservieren sonst war alles voll. Die Sauberkeit im Speisesaal ließ zu wünschen übrig, Geschirr und Kaffee waren oft aus und man musste oft bei dem unwilligen Personal nachfragen. Strand ok. Auswahl Speisen beim Frühstück recht gut!

Quite nice, the room looked really new and was quite clean except for a small influx of ants every afternoon. The pool is really nice and is a good location, only a short walk into town. Having to walk up and down four flights of stairs every time we wanted to get to the room was a bit tiring but everything else was good. Don't go to breakfast too late as they stop refilling things around 9:30am. Really great hotel and only a short walk to town. We would probably stay here again.

I have been travelling around thailand for about 15 years and stayed in everything from a shack to some really top end hotels... This one is not to be recommended for the following reasons: 1. Bungalows are the most expensive but in a terrible condition, 2. SOmebody died on our beach while we were staying there because of rip tides that exist almost all year round. ( There are several drowning deaths a year on Chaweng side but nobody wants to publicise that!) The hotel doesn't even have a safety boat - when you consider the rip off rates this place charges, they can definately afford one!!! 3. The day to day staff are great but the front of house staff have got a seriously bad attitude. 4. The hotel refused to transfer us FOC and made us pay for airport transfers- My advice: DONT stay here! Its overcrowded, impersonal and plagued by idiots selling stuff you dont want... Go to Phangnan or LAmai or bophut/ Big Buddha beach for a far better trip.... - On the other hand, if you want to be ripped off, treated like cattle and find it hard to find anyone but Russians around, this would make the idea holiday! - What a shame because I love Thailand, and this place betrays it!!!!

We were upgraded to a beach bungalow because our preferred room was not available the first night, and it was perfectly lovely! The rooms and pool were quite nice; beautiful breakfast location overlooking the sea. The hotel is located at the end of Chaweng, a bit of a walk from the main drag, but still very convenient for restaurants, bars, etc. The hotel staff were very helpful, particularly when we asked to extend our stay.

We stayed at the hotel in the buildings room and it was a nightmare, the rooms were smelling so bed, like we were at the sewage, there was a problem with the shower it was very hard to work it up, at the last day we didn't have hot water, the staff at the reception weren't so friendly, and there was always a problem to get a towel at the pool or at the sea, the towels were very dirty most of the time. There were a lot of mosquitos near the room and we were stung threw the nights.The Hotel is far from the center and you must use a texi in order to get to the center and the prices are very high considering the prices in Thailnad. The things that we liked at the hotel were the breakfest, it was very good, they have a very good beach, and the restaurant at the hotel was nice with good food and reasonble prices. I certainly won't reccomand this hotel to anyone.

Hotel is fine and located just outside the busy center of Chaweng. We stayed in the main building after a bad experience on a previous visit, when I booked an on the beach bungalow. These bungalows are really bad; old, not maintained and still in their late 70's setup. Fortunately they allowed us to change to the main building, however no refund because the beach bungalows are almost twice as expensive as the (new) rooms in the main building. Reception staff is not very friendly and the staff at the breakfast facility is on automatic pilot.They have to do this every day and you can see that on their faces when they look at you...another tourist out of thousands day after day. I speak a little Thai, and they are making remarks about their guests entering the facility, especially the cooks when a foreigner walks in which happens to be married to a Thai lady like me. Great pool and very friendly and helpfull pool staff; good food at the pool. Strange that you have to walk to the beach to get a hotel towel for the swimming pool(so walk back again)

clean rooms, frendly and helpfull staff,resort is in good condition and full maintanenced. beach is wonderfull. we spent there 6 days for our honeymoon, everything was ok. never hesitate to choose firs bungalow beach resort.
