Who we are
Coral Bay Resort is designed for travelers in search of a relaxing and eco-friendly holiday experience. The peaceful natural environment of Coral Bay Resort minimizes the stress of today urban lifestyle and offers a welcome alternative to the crowded concrete establishments that unfortunately are becoming all too prevalent on Koh Samui.

imgimgimg

Our 56 bungalows are set amid 10 acres of lush tropical gardens, ensuring an atmosphere of serenity and privacy. Surrounded by luxuriant coconut palms and flowering shrubs, the charming Samui-style dwellings built of wood and stone with traditional thatched roofs offer the highest standards of comfort.

img Our Philosophy
Since opening in 1982, we have worked hard to maintain the delicate balance between preserving the natural charm of Koh Samui while providing the amenities for our discerning guests. The abundant tropical flora creates a sanctuary for many species of birds, butterflies and squirrels.

imgimgimg

Ever conscious of the environment, our swimming pools are 100% chlorine-free and we use recycled waste water to maintain the extensive gardens and new plants in our nursery.

The waste water is pretreated through stages of septic tanks, bio tanks and settlement tanks before filtering through a natural treatment system of media, aquatic flora / fauna and finally polished off with a protein skimmer which purifies the water further and convert harmful nitrates into beneficial ones before it goes into our sprinkler system.

imgimgimg

Where we are
We are situated on Yai Noi Bay, north Chaweng Beach on the north eastern part of Koh Samui, about 10 minutes from the airport.

Baan Chomjan Villa

The stunning Baan Chomjan Villa is located on one side of the resort, close enough for easy access to the beach, pool and restaurants yet totally self-contained for those desiring greater solitude. Offering uninterrupted vistas over a secluded bay, the luxurious Baan Chomjan Villa is aptly named 'moon-viewing house'. The Thai word 'jan'(moon) also refers to the clusters of huge white moon flowers that climb the trellis in front of the spacious and ultra-private villa and bloom only in the late afternoon. Built of teak, local hardwoods, sandstone and slate, the villa embodies a simultaneously lavish yet earthy design, redolent of an island-style country residence.

imgimg

The 55 m2 master bedroom on the ground floor opens onto a spacious private terrace. With its ensuite bathroom, chaise lounge, writing desk, and 29' cable TV, the large airy space makes a perfect hideaway within the villa. The room stays pleasantly cool either by using the air conditioner or in the cooler seasons, by opening the sliding doors to let in the sea breezes. Upstairs, each of the two 32 m2 bedrooms has a balcony, ensuite bathroom and a ceiling fan as well as air conditioner.

imgimgimg

Ingeniously arrayed under a tall vaulted ceiling, the fully air conditioned open-plan living room, den and kitchen/dining area offer maximum space and functionality. The den has plenty of comfortable seating for reading or watching the 50 flat panel LCD TV with its surround-sound speaker system. Web surfers can check emails on the computer workstation with an ADSL connection online all the time. Wi-Fi is available from various access points in the villa (den, upstairs balcony, living and dining rooms and the terrace). For those who prefer cooking at home, the European-style kitchen is fully equipped with all major appliances including a 4-burner stove and oven, microwave as well as utensils and cutlery.

imgimgimg

Although the hotel pool is only a few meters away, an added perk is the new 4m x 10m private 100% chlorine-free pool for the exclusive use of Baan Chomjan and Baan Chomdao guests. Built on a raised concrete surface with a wooden deck, it is surrounded by sandstone tiles and features a lava rock waterfall. Nearly hidden behind lush tropical trees and flowers, the lap pool is sunny until noon and stays pleasantly cool and shady during the hot afternoons. The built-in swim jet will provide a challenge for those in need of a serious workout.

The beautifully appointed Baan Chomjan is set apart in its own compound with private entrance and night time security. The rate is inclusive of breakfast and tax for up to six persons. For an extra charge, an additional two people can be accommodated by converting the two day beds in the den into single beds. Those sleeping in the den can either share one of the upstairs en-suite bathrooms or use the guest toilet downstairs. Baan Chomjan residents also have full use of all hotel facilities.

Restaurant & Bar

Eats and drinks
Whether you are a carnivore or a vegetarian, a bon vivant or a teetotaller, you will find something to satisfy your needs on our extensive food and drink menu. Our guests often say we serve the best Thai food on the island. They appreciate that we do not tone down the flavors to satisfy westernized notions of Thai cuisine unless we are specifically requested to do so.

imgimgimgimg

Plus we use only the fresh coconut cream in our curries and cocktails. (With nearly 200 coconut trees on site, why buy the canned stuff?) At the Pakarang (coral in Thai) restaurant, you will never feel enclosed, whether dining indoors or al fresco on the wooden deck. Sipping an exotic cocktail (shaken, never stirred) at the Coco-rock Beach Bar is an ideal way to celebrate the end of yet another perfect day at Coral Bay Resort.

Services & Facilities

HANGING OUT HERE
Being in paradise doesn not mean being bored! On site is a fresh water swimming pool (with childrens section) overlooking the sea, plus ping pong and beach volleyball. The coral reef in the bay offers good snorkeling, fishing and shelling. The tiny island of Koh Matlang opposite the resort has an adjacent reef and is accessible by short long-tail boat or at low tide, by wading. Snorkeling equipment and kayaks are available for rent, as are jeeps and motorbikes. Windsurfers, parasailers, scooters and jet skis can be rented on the main part of nearby Chaweng beach.

Our Internet workstation at the lobby is available for guests in need of their daily email fix, while those who have brought along their Wi-Fi enabled notebooks can plug in at the lobby, restaurant and swimming pool if they are away from their rooms.

imgimg

AMATA SPA
Our new spa is located next to the swimming pool. With its cool interiors and intimate setting, it is an ideal hideaway for a day of pampering and healing. Detox in the infrared sauna followed by a high pressure jet massage, then bliss out under the gentle care of our well-trained therapists.

imgimg

We take pride in using only the very best natural products to ensure that you benefit fully from each treatment with no possibility of an allergic reaction. Consult our Spa Manager, who is also a registered nurse, to choose a therapy to suit your needs or have a package custom-designed for you. Whatever your choice, we aim to de-stress, detoxify, soothe away your aches and pains, rejuvenate and elevate your sense of well-being. Go ahead, make your day! Give your body the treat it deserves.

ENTERTAINMENT
The bars on Chaweng and Lamai offer Thai boxing, transvestite cabaret shows and other exotic nighttime entertainment, as well as dancing from dusk til dawn. Food wise, resident expatriates from Italy , France and Germany are constantly opening (and often closing) all manner of restaurants in Chaweng, Bophud and Maenam. Some are actually fabulous.

SHOPPING
Meanwhile, Koh Samui abounds in shopping, dining and entertainment opportunities. The streets of Chaweng, Lamai and Nathon are clogged with souvenir stalls that offer an assortment of wares ranging from tacky to terrific.

SIGHTS and SENES
The amazing Hinta Hinyai phallic rocks, Butterfly Garden; Samui Aquarium; Snake Farm; Monkey Theater; Hin Lad and Na Muang waterfalls; Crocodile Farm; Hiking trails to Samui Highland Park, Secret Buddha Garden, Monkeys working in coconut plantations, 100-year old house, Big Buddha shrine, Hua Thanon Fishing Village, Various Temples and Pagodas, Lamai Culture Hall, Nathon main town.

Wedding

The Coco-rock Beach Bar has been the setting for hundreds of festive occasions. We love to organize weddings (Buddhist or non-religious ceremonies), wedding receptions, and parties. We can prepare a barbecue / buffet, an 'all curry' party or a Samui roast suckling pig for up to 80 guests. Naomi and Aaron Newlands sensational wedding at Coral Bay Resort was featured in U.K. Cosmopolitan Bride Feb/Mar 2006 issue. Accommodation and facilities:
Unfortunately our accommodation at Coral Bay was not up to standard. This was our 4th time at this resort and we were very disappointed. The resort is very tired and appears run down. The gardens were overgrown and needed attention, the pool beds were very dirty, the towels looked like they were 20 years old all torn and frayed, there was no pool service, in fact the service was appalling from the reception area thru to the restaurant. We came from another resort where the staff were brilliant kind and very friendly but at CB they were rude, and not communicative at all and I hardly noticed a smile amongst them. They advertise that they have 3 restaurants where in fact there is only one that was operating as a restaurant, so you might want to make sure that when you are advertising this that its not misleading. In the one restaurant where we did spend money I wanted a glass of white wine only to be told that the owner had taken all the white wine to a party!.Sadly I cannot recommend this resort to anyone who is looking for 4 star accom.

The night before leaving, I asked to pay additional expenses (drinks,food,..)to get ready early morning but I found out that it is not possible to use VISA credit card!! wowo..how is it possible? then hotel staff dont provide any solutions to solve the problem (STRATEGY OF WAITING)!!! NO SOLUTIONS until the customer finally found a way by paying with cash! WHAT HAPPEN IS NO CASH? no helpful. It gave me a sad feeling when leaving this place and it does not motive me to come back: PITY!! I heard better service in Thailand! Chock Di Na Khrap!

We loved our stay at Coral Bay Resort. The beach is great and quiet, no Russians. The Bungalow was big enough for all 4 of us. However, we think this resort needs a tone up as some facilities show some wear/age. The pool area definately needs updating. Enjoyed Amata Spa, recommend everyone to try that. We will be back next year.

Friendly and efficient frontdesk-straff. Rooms are spacious and wel maintained. OCEAN-view is marvelous. Exterior of the bungalo's is a bit dated. Thatched roofs are worn-out and need replacement. Although the location is top it looks like tatt this resortt is on it's return. One beach-bar was closed and the other bar/restaurant wasn't suitable for collecting drinks etc in bathing-suit. Diner restaurant is overpriced. Although high-season the resort was only 50% occupied. Stayed her during high-season

Coral Bay Resort

Accommodation and facilities:
I have been keeping The Coral Bay in mind since my first visit to Koh Samui in late nineties. I passed it by many times and looked around. Prime location, away from noisy Chaweng beach but still close to town, wide beachfront strap which is a rarity nowadays, spacious sea-view bungalows, lush gardens… Indeed, natural luxury, which is the resort’s slogan. Too bad now, its better times have definitely passed. Now it looks neglected and untended. There has been no renovation for years. Bungalows are still comfortable, as they were initially constructed. I bet you won’t get that space for that money anymore anywhere else on the island. We stayed at a PDF (I guess it means paired deluxe family) consisting of two big interconnected bedrooms, each with a king-size bed and a separate bathroom, and a spacious sea-view terrace. I estimate the total space to well exceed 100 sq. meters. The bungalow is so cozy and eco-friendly. It is all-wooden inside and outside, including furniture, has a thatched roof and natural stone in bathrooms. However, renovation has been needed years ago. Or at least elementary day-to-day maintenance. Windows are blotchy. My wife had to buy a detergent at 7/11 and clean the glass herself. The pool is out-of-date and small. Chlorine-cleaning is not maintained, which the management believes to be a plus, but it means muddy and greasy water. If you wear a mask and dive, you would hardly see your stretched hand. All-wooden sunbeds are withered, futons are covered with spots and slits all around. As a result, the pool is unattended. The beach is not cleaned everyday from sea weeds. Unlike in any well-managed resort, coconuts are dangerously hanging over your head everywhere. Let alone our 5-year kid, we were afraid for ourselves. I had to tell the management about that, and in a couple of days they cut some of those bombs along the paths in the gardens, but on the beach it all remained the same. The beach hut, supposed to be a beachside snack bar, is always closed. I mean, 24/7. Variety of food displayed at breakfast is somewhat an absolute minimum. The main restaurant is almost unattended. The food is pretty good, however, the overall atmosphere is somewhat dead-alive. The menu booklets look like they have never been renewed since the resort’s opening, well-handled and stained. They have a very beautiful lounge next to the restaurant, sort of a big pergola with multicolored clothes fancifully twisted and hanging over your head while you are sitting back in comfy cane sofas and chairs. Wonderfully designed idea, but if you look closer, those clothes have never been to laundry and ironing since the decoration was initially made… So wonderfully conceived, designed and created, the resort has gone rusty and now is in utter desertion… So sad. The staff is not bad, they keep smiling and do their job somehow, but, as everything else in the resort, people leave you with that impression of indifference and negligence. One night, we saw two fat rats strolling on the roof of the adjoining bungalow! My wife was shocked, and it nearly became the final straw for us… But we decided to stay there to the very end, since the accommodation was fully prepaid in advance. The resort’s website has not been updated for four years now, links don’t work properly, which should have been a troubling sign for us. Perhaps, that was the time when the resort was sold by its initial owners… Now it is clenched between Nora Beach and Anantara Lawana which both have worse beach slots and sea access, but look well managed, clean, always full of guests, lights, music and fun. IN SUMMARY: for us, it was not the worst choice because we have been to Koh Samui many times, and in fact, all we need is a spacious room. The Coral Bay provides it, and that’s value for money. We always rent a car and go around the island, attending various places and resorts with their pools, beaches and restaurants. But for those who are not that well acquainted with the island and prefer to get everything in a single basket, to have comfort, good facilities and services at one place, The Coral Bay is not recommended. At least, until it changes to the better, someday, somehow. P.S. If I had money, I would buy and resurrect it, turn it into a real pearl…

The bungalows where huge. They are nice but they getting old...the garden is great. The pool needs constructions especially the area around the pool. The staff was....hmmmm not to compare with other thai people we ever met. I don´t know the reason what made them so bored and uninterested...the beach was nice but there is nothing around to have a nice drink or a quick lunch...you need to go by car or bike to the city which is very close...but its not possible to walk along the beach. Breakfast was ok. Not more not less....no fruit carving...a bit loveless...it was low season we get a bungalow which is very far away to walk to the pool and our 8 year old daughter had a bit problems to find the way...it was not possible to move to another bungalow although there where just 5 familys...if there was 5....

It's really value for money , especially if you plan to join day tours anyway. My dad got a fever after joining the safari tour (may be too tired) , and it was amazing that he was fully recovered/recharged just by 1-day enjoying the fresh air and wonderful garden walking in the hotel. Of course, he told me that the nice room service served him the best, and he could take a good rest and he enjoyed the sunshine just at the doorway.

Just returned home after spending 3 weeks in Thailand, 5 of those nights at Coral Bay Resort.Overall we had a nice stay, but just a couple of things that I think could be improved. The resort has a lovely restaurant right on the beach, but unfortunately smoking is allowed in all areas of the resort. Really unpleasant when you are dining. The Spa is ridiculously overpriced. 900 Baht for a 30 min massage, when just down the road you can get the same service for 400 Baht for 1 hour. Now I did expect the Spa at the resort to be more expensive than elsewhere, but 5 times the price is unexceptable and consequently, no-one uses it. We stayed in fabulouse accommodation in Bangkok and their spa was less than half that price, so it can be done, and surely having customers use the facility at reasonable prices, is better than having no business. The Bungalow was lovely, traditional style, a lot of timber and a thatched roof, comfortable bed, and reasonable mini bar prices, but everytime you showered, the bathroom flooded as it is an open style with no fall towards the drain. As I said a pleasant stay, but maybe some food for thought in regards to my comments, as this resort is not cheap.

Reservation service:
Service good, but the price of the transfer from the airport was overpriced as we discovered the resort is only 5 mins away and a taxi will do it for half the price

We are a family of 2 adults plus 3 kids (5, 7, 9). The resort was fantastic - both for us with family but also for just couple travellers. We had booked and stayed 12 nights - not at all too long. My warmest recommendations and thanks to very kind staff.

Very beautifull hotel with a very nice, quiet garden. De rooms were spacious en very clean. De staff was very friendly and helpfull. Breakfast was good. The Cocorock restaurant is very good and tastefull. Only 1.5 km from Chaweng in a peacefull place. I recommend this hotel and when we go back to Samui we sure book this hotel again.

The resort is very clean, the maids work exceptionally hard and the rooms are spotless. The staff are extremely friendly, the food is great. The pool was a disappointment, it was very dirty and was not cleaned regularly.

The best hotel on our trip. The family bungalows are so comfortable and modern. The staff were great. The beach is secluded but just a short walk to Chaweng. Bring water shoes though, it's a bit rocky. Well rommended!

Coral Bay Resort and Spa (Chawaeng Noi) The staff were really nice and helpful. the hotel is very old and run down but in a good location which was less busy and relaxing,we fond cockroaches in our room 3 days in a row. We paid over Bt14,000 a day for one bangalow with two rooms which I thought was quite expensive for the condition of the hotel. The hotel is 5 minutes drive from the airport but we were charged Bt 250 for each person ( I didn't use the hotel transfer on our return to the airport, paid the outside taxi for Bt 300 for the whole van).Room service was ridiculously expensive. We will stay somewhere else next trip as we realised we could have picked other places which are a lot newer and a lot less expensive.

Accommodation and facilities:
The hotel and the site is really nice, nice decoration, really beautiful garden, very confortable bungalow, nice pool, and a very practival gazebo on the pool side, since we were with baby and kids and could be a good place for us for having a rest in the day time. However, found it far from the downtown, the beach is quiet, but too many corals, so could not walk in the water without surf shoes. The hotel could be considered as a 4-5 stars natural luxury resort, but strangly we had to pay for the tea and coffee individual packs which were put next to the kettle for the guest convenience; for my mind in hotel of this range, usually coffee and tea are free for guest use.

Reservation service:
Very good and very convenient, easy to use and quick in answers.

Very impressed with the appearance of this resort. The lobby and dinning areas are gorgeous. Reception was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast excellent, accom. beautiful. Myself and a friend had a motorbike accident in Krabi before arriving in Koh Samui so we spent 95% of our time at the resort. We are so glad we chose this resort. 10/10

Absolutely gorgeous, exactly as shown on the website, a lush tropical paradise. The lead-in rooms (deluxe) have huge balconies, the perfect place for a sundowner. Staff were friendly and helpful, also managed to change my booking to add an extra day, no problem. My only negative would be for the breakfast, which was bland and uninspired, with not nearly enough of the abundant local fruit options offered.

Reservation service:
Simple, quick, efficient- brilliant!

Fantastic hotel, friendly staff. The beach and sea are not the best in the island - due to the coral reef nearby. Bungalows are surrounded by marvelous garden, bungalow (deluxe, garden view) - superior quality, really luxury. The location is a bit remote from the Chaveng centre, but to me it is an advantage - taxi and tuk-tuk are cheap enough to get there at anytime. I would strongly recommend this hotel! And would like to come back :)

Definitely one of the most beautiful resorts on Samui island. Set in a wonderful lush tropical garden, guests can relax in nicely designed one- or two party villas with an individual character. The staff is perfect, service impeccable, very helpful people! The only minus is the breakfast. Not bad as such, it is a bit dull and one would want to see a little more of culinary creativity go into it. By the way, you will find the breakfast thing repeatedly mentioned at a number of forums by visitors to Coral Bay. The restaurant is fine but there are so many fine restaurants around that one should try them as well. Hire a scooter (at the reception) and do not stay at the resort all the time. There are dozens of attractive excursions, day and night, that the hotel management will help you to arrange. Try the Thail Culinary Institute for a coooking course! In total - no regret whatsoever!

We had the most fantastic stay at Coral Bay Resort. An absolute haven in the middle of what has now unfortunately become a very commercialised Samui. The huts were just gorgeous and had everything you could need with a luxurious holiday feel. Most especially the team at Coral Bay were so exceptionally friendly and helpful - it really makes your trip. I hope places like this don't sell out to the larger establishments that are now prevalent on this once beautiful island getaway. If you are looking for some luxury, but built into and complementing the natural attributes and surroundings - don't go past Coral Bay. And the Amata Spa is absolute HEAVEN. Thank you Coral Bay for such a brilliant stay.

We spent 12 wonderful days at Coral Bay Resort to celebrate my birthday and christmas with our family. We were 12 people all together, from 2 to 83 years old. We cannot thank enough for the excellent and kind service we got from everybody at the resort. My husband, who is handicapped and walks with a stick, always got a helping hand when needed. The manager Peter was especially kind and gave us many good advices about trips that was good for the children and so on. The restaurant was really good and the breakfast was extraordinary. We have never stayed in such a nice and beauty ful place and I hope we will be back. I only have one small complaint. It would have been nice with a plan over the resort on the website, so we could see where the bungalows were placed.

Reservation service:

I cannot praise Coral Bay Resort highly enough. The staff are so helpful and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. This is my third time there in three years and it's wonderful to go to a place where you feel like a long lost friend but are still treated like an honoured guest. A visit to the spa leaves you floating on a cloud and my skin has never been this soft. I look forward to my next visit. Thank you for a wonderful holiday.

Coral Bay Resort

Accommodation and facilities:
Our second time back here, and the resort itself reatains most of its charm - the accomodation is excellent and the staff equally so. One major issue though...the building work on a new resort complex currently underway next door was pretty intrusive - JCBs and heavy trucks working on the beach can't be anything but intrusive, and the current works have cut the beach off making it all but impossible to walk along the beach to the main area of Chaweng beach. It also made the walk along the road in the evening somewhat more dangerous, with heavy trucks charging around, as the workers appeared to be working on the site until midnight and beyond. Add to this the current works that the hotel is undertaking to demolish and replace it's own beach bar and a certain amount of the tranquility is most definitely lost. This didn't ruin our break - in fact we would certainly return - but not without checking first with Coral Bay that the works had been completed....the signs indicated an opening date for the next door resort of December 2007, but it looked a lot further away from completion than that.

Accommodation and facilities:
Coral Bay Resort is located on the Northern, secluded end of Chaweng Beach. We liked being in a quieter area, but within a short taxi ride of all the great restaurants in Chaweng (Recommend Eat Sense and Zico's - a fabulous Brazilian Barbecue). The Resort has a great restaurant with a wide selection and good breakfast buffet. The Pool is not large, but there is a shallow children's section. The Resort is on a secluded bay with a beautiful view. There is coral in the water that makes it a little difficult to wade at times, but the water is so clear that it was not hard to walk around the coral and out to the nice sandbar - around the sandbar the sand was very soft and water very shallow for quite a ways, perfect for our two year old to run around and splash. Plenty of beach chairs. We stayed in the Deluxe Family Bungalow with my wife's parents in one room and us in the other. We really liked our rooms, very spacious (even with our son's portable crib), and the bathrooms were spacious as well. The staff, especially the manager (Peter), were very friendly and helpful. Would also like to mention that directly across from the entrance to the resort is O.A. Travel - we used them for all our taxi, laundry, touring needs and they were fantastic and cheaper. Just got their card and called their cell phone if we needed a ride into or out of town. Very convenient. Also, this resort is next door to the Nora resort, whose restaurant is also quite good and convenient to walk to. Lastly, there was construction next door to Coral Bay while we were there, but it did not disturb us at all.
