Location is central and right next to tops supermarket. The room was next to the pool great for the kids to swim and us to keep an eye on them. The room had a bit of a leak oneday from the aircon but the staff were straight onto it and repaired it. Great spot to stay

The Resort is on the perfect place, in the middle of the main beach, but totally quiet in the evening for sleeping. Directly at the beach, max. 2 min by feet, the beach and the water is very very nice and clean!! the hotel area also very nice, two great pools. I changed the place on Koh Samui a lot until I found Al's Resort, and there i stayed.

We arrived at Al's resort and had a standard room booked - this room was disgusting with mosquitos everywhere, the drains made the whole room stink. We stayed in this room one night as the hotel was full due to the full moon party - the next day I complained to the manager who was unhelpful and patronising. She upgraded us but made me pay 820BHT for the upgrade. The day we were leaving I asked if I could pay extra to keep the room for longer as we were not flying until 8pm - they said we couldnt but they would give us a room to shower in - I thought this was great until it came to the time and we were shown down a back alley to the staff showers which were tiny, grotty and dirty for the two of us to cram into and shower. Not a good experience for the last 3 days of my holiday. Would not recommend this hotel.

Perfect location at Chaweng beach (which in our opinion is the best place to stay at Samui). Shopping and restaurants just outside the area. Supermarket/grocery store conveniently placed 20 metres away from the hotel reception. Kind and helpful staff. The hotel area and buildings have been upgraded curing the last year and give a nice impression. This time at Al's we stayed in a Courtyard Suite - spacious with one bedroom and a living room, very suitable for a family with 2 kids. A nice swimming pool just outside the door. This is the 3rd time we ve stayed at Al's Resort and if we return to Koh Samui and Chaweng in the future we will defenitely consider staying here again.

Good pool area, really nice staff and good breakfast and perfect location. Beach clean and nice. Room ok (superior) but bathroom worn down and a bit dirty. The warm water smelling a bit nasty the first few minutes of showering. A lot of mosqitos finding their way into the room. Choose a more expensive room type for better standard.

This has been our 2nd visit to Al's resort and we had a great time. The location is fantastic as we had a sea view room right on the beach, absolute bliss! Already miss being there. The only negative is that is seems as though the hotel facilities are deteriorating over time (our last visit was 5 years ago), and the breakfast was not great, but sufficient, but given the cost, it was still great value for money.

Very handy to the bustle of Chaweng beach, but quiet enough to get away from the crowds. Garden rooms had an odour about them, the bathrooms were disappointing. Our shower rose wouldnt stay in its holder. The bathroom just didnt feel clean, Although the cleaners did make an effort to clean daily [with good tips]. Pool area good. Whole place could do with a freshen up, restaurant included. Staff friendly.

这是我这次旅行中定的最贵的一家酒店，但反而是我最失望的一家酒店。可能就是因为靠海的原因，房间小的可怜，而且极其潮湿，晚上睡觉都能感觉到被单和床单上的潮气。卫生间没有窗户，导致房间里湿气更大了。只是因为靠海，早上可以直接穿着泳衣下海，除此之外并无其他可以表演的地方。而且酒店不负责接送，前台的英语也不怎么好。

Horrible hotel. The room was dirty, full of insects. The hotel area is not well maintained. What we saw on photoes does not correspond to reality. The reception lady was rude and not cooperative. We left the hotel in 2 hours since we checked in and still had to pay for 1 night stay. I don't know how people left good reviews about this hotel. Its totally not true! Bad hotel, bad personnel, bad management, waist of our money.

This has been my sixth visit to Thailand. First to Koh Samui.Ifound the hotel to be poor value for money. Everything, from check in to rooms to food and including service was extremely diappointing.There is a lot to be learnt from the industry in Phuket.Especially treatment of the customer.I experienced intolerance from management and staff.I got the feeling that I was viewed as being ignorant. I WILL reccommend Koh Samui as holiday destination. But I WILL NOT reccommend Al's Resort to my friends and colleagues.I am part of the travel industry, and expected so much more.

What a great stay, happily we made a good choice with Al's Resort. The location couldn't have been more perfect! The Resort itself needed a little TLC and the shower and toilet being together made things interesting...The supermarket at the entrance to the resort is a huge help and you can buy almost anything there at a very reasonable price (food, sunscreen, sodas, drinks etc). We used the spa at the resort too, great service and at a good rate. The jet skis for hire on the beach are real value for money. The ladies who sell fresh fruit and corn on the cob are certainly welcome, their produce are always fresh and delicious. Overall a great value for money resort.

Our first stay at Chaweng Beach and we were quite happy with the Resort. Location is excellent right on the beach and the room was ok size for 2 adults and 2 children. On the flipside there was a bad sewer smell just outside our room and the beach was suffering from oil patches (not the hotels fault...) If you want to go to Chaweng I find Al's Resort quite OK considering value for money.

I stayed in a Deluxe Courtyard Room - very nice room. Spacious and clean. The beach is nice in front of the resort and the pool is nice too, maybe a little small. The breakfast is great, a buffet with lots of choices. Open 6:30 - 10:30am. The other food though is not so good. Our party of 4 ate there once for dinner, and everyone's meal was awful. Good location of the resort, close to the center of everything. Staff is nice and helpful.

Al's Resort is a fantastic hotel, great location next to Topps supermarket and the reception staff were extremely helpful throughout our stay. Both pool areas are great and the bar staff delivered drinks whilst we sat around soaking up the sun. Every hour was Chang O clock! The rooms were cleaned regularly and were of a good standard. The TV played Cities of Gold at 7pm every weekday on Boomerang (channel 14) so we could watch that before heading out to Legends bar. I would definitely stay at Al's Resort again. Well done to all involved!

This is the third year in a row that we have stayed at Al's resort. We can afford to stay at a much more expensive place, but we feel Al's has the location and the people experience that we like. We find the facilities improve every year, and due to low staff turnover they remember us well. Al's location is the best on Chewang beach for lots of action in the water (Jet ski, surfing). The beach vendors have good memories as they will only target you the first day, then they become more like friends. We bring our teenage kids to this location because it is away from the normal rift raff that Thailand usually has tolerance with. We plan to go again next year and bring even more friends than we did this year.

i actually stayed at Al's Resort twice during the same vacation (before and after the full moon party). The rooms are OK...I stayed in a garden courtyard for four nights -right next to the beach -room 101) and then in one of the newer rooms -332 for two nights. I think the newer rooms are nicer...two minute walk to the beach instead of 10 seconds. The staff is marginal at best. The breakfast is fine. I only went twice, so I did not get bored of the food. The location is perfect. Right in the heart of Central Chewang, but somehow incredibly quiet. The Tops supermarket is next door, which is terrific as well.

Enjoyed our stay. However, the hotel could use a face-lift all over. The room was dark, the bathroom didn't look like the pictures AT ALL and smelled disgusting most of the time. The staff doesn't speak or understand english very well, and it led to a lot of misunderstandings with wake up-calls, food and drink orders etc. The restaurant is really bad, and the breakfast buffeet was full of flies. OK low-budget hotel, but we re not coming back to Al's resort.

This is our second stay at Als, it has one of the best locations on Chaweng, we stayed in the villa suite for the price I think the room could be updated it seemed a little old compared to the new villa's which looked a lot better although they are at the back of the resort. Breakfast could be better as we stayed 12 days and generally it was was the same food each day. Special thanks to the cleaning staff as our room was always spotless. Regards to Pom and staff for a very pleasant stay see you next year.

Fantastic beachfront location. An ideal place to stay on Chaweng Beach. Jetskis are available for hire right outside the hotel. Main street is close by with plenty of restaurants to choose from. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay there again.

After reading the reviews on this site, I was a little apprehensive, but decided to take a chance. I was not disappointed. We stayed in a studio room and it was very nice, clean and the location could not be better. It is on the best part of the beach. The breakfast was good- lots of variety. I don't know what people are talking about. The staff were always friendly and the Gala dinner for New Year was spectacular. We would recommend and will stay here again. If you want 5 star luxury go to a 5 star place and pay the price..but this was all that we needed and great value for money in comparison to other places in the area.

The resort staffs are friendly. Anyway, for those who plan to be there, please ensure to take in your request not to be located in room 316. The room's backyard is very smelly - like an antiseptic tank. And when I escalated to the staff, there was no immediate action taken (with the reasons all staff are busy), neither the room can be replaced (with the reason all similar rooms are fully booked). After 3hours the duty manager just went there just for the sake of saying ‘hi’ but did nothing about it even making a courtesy by sending an apologize note for the inconvenience caused. The environment and the beach was good except we were a bit disappointed with the price we pay for a good resort like that; we have to bare with bad odor when we open the backyard door during our entire stay.

We stayed for 4 nights in the hotel, the staff was nice and helpful however the hotel is old, the room is old, the shower is old, airconditioner is old, we also found ants inside the room. The breakfast is okay but the restaurant is aweful looks dirty and the waiters were even with slippers. The pool is okay but the pool chairs are old and you will find them all occupied with some people from other hotels. The beack chairs and umbrellas are terrible.......... anyway, it is very different from what we saw on their web site!

Our second stay at Al's Resort. The hotel has a very good location on the beautiful Chaweng beach, with the main street just outside the door for shopping and dining. A well assorted super market is situated on the way to the main street. We stayed in a Villa de lux, offering a spacious living room and a bed room with adjoined bath room and an outdoor shower. Extra bed is no problem in any of the rooms. The standard of the rooms are quite OK, though a redecorating should be considered soon. The breakfast buffet is OK. The service is OK, but the staff is very little English speaking. Als Resort can be recommended

This hotel was the worst hotel i stayed at ever in thailand. I have stayed in about 20 hotels in various classes. The rooms are very dirty on the walls, full of flies and other insects. 2 times we found cockrouges. the floow was dirty, the shower was as basic as it can be and only cold water in the sink. The only goob about this hotel is the location and the breakfast. But since we saw couchrouges in the resturant i did not really liked to eat there again. It is an overpriced, bad maintained hotel. Look for something els if you want to enjoy your stay at Samui, this will only make you regret it.

We stayed at Al's Resort and it was exactly as described. Room spacious, efficient housekeeping services. Buffet breakfast with good selection of meals. The restaurant could do with some more fans or AC, on warm day it is a bit stuffy. Excellent location on beach, near to night market. I think that it was worth every cent we spent. If I should visit Koh Samui again, I will definitely chose Al's Resort.

I and my husband spent 10 days in Koh Samui. We stay in many Resorts. This one is the worst one which we had stay. We stayed in Villa Room - Room smell bad and Room Door lock had problem to close the door which is very easy to somebody get in to the room and there have no Safety Box in the room! We moved to other resort immediately next day. and the weird thing is we forgot our slippers in the room and we went back next day looking for our slippers. and the Front Desk Girl (treat us likes a witch) called to house keeping and she said we didn't left anything in the room! The service of this hotel is sooooo BAD! We never will go back again. be careful with the staff and house keeping they are not honest!

This was our third visit at Al's resort, and we will come again. the location is perfect, the place and the staff are very child friendly. What more can you ask for. The hotel is maintained well, although the pool side needs some more work. We stayed in the Deluxe Villa room which was very nice and tidy. Pool was great, one of the best locations on the beach. Staff were friendly and tried hard but all seemed new (their badges said trainee ). Restaurant food very average, but plently of options in Chaweng road (1 minute walk away) and along the beach. Would recommend eating out most nights. Breakfast good.

We would highly recommend Als resort to anyone. We had a fantastic stay at Als,the service was awesome,the staff are fantastic and the value for money was outstanding. The location of Als is a bonus,it puts you right in the heart of Chaweng and contrary to all reports previously, we had no problem with noise or crowds whatsoever. The only little fault we could note was the beaches in front of the resort could do with a little more attention when it came to cleanliness. BAD BAD BAD!!!! We booked the hotel at siameservices after visiting kho samui in september 2006, we saw the hotel then and loved it. When we arived to the hotelnow, a year and a half later, we were so disappointed as the hotel looked like a dump! All public areas are neglected, every thing is dirty,the pool and beach chairs and parasols are all (!!!)broken, the outside walls of the rooms and restaurant are dirty and rusted, the deck and floor outside are horrible and look like slums, the restaurant is stifling and smells bad, as the outside it is too dirty and broken inside, we did not recive the value for our money and we paid alot of money for nothing. Do not go to this hotel!!!,learn from our bad experience !!!

If you want a place that is close to the nightlife and beach, Al's resort is ideal but it is not as luxurious as it looks on the website. A couple of years ago maybe but now it is worn and in need of a refurb. i.e pool area beds are broken and decking is flaking. The bungalows are small and smelt a bit but were very clean and had all the basics you needed. Security staff were lovely but receptionists were not so welcoming.

Nice rooms, clean and well presented. There is a bit of noise thru the night because of fireworks on the beach though! Very difficult to communicate with the staff as no1 speaks English very well, incl the phone operator which made it slightly difficult at times. The reception is great, very helpful. Overall a great place and will def recommend it to others. Its close to all the good restaurants and shopping. There is a supermarket right in front so u dont have to go to far 4 anything!!

Al's Resort

Accommodation and facilities:
The shower was luke warm in both rooms, bathroom was dirty. bed was terrible. television channels never worked sometime. found a mosqitou in the ice tray in the fridge. I complained but the receptionist just ignored me completely . nice pool

Reservation service:
Booking Service was efficient but i would prefer instant confirmation like other sites offer
