Accommodation and facilities:
Really, the only thing going for this place is the location. Beachfront room right on a (relatively) clean and quiet beach, a good place for families with kids. Unfortunately, the rooms are sub-standard, and in serious need of refurbishment (shower head not attached to the water hose, no wifi in rooms, no English TV channel, no in-room phone, barely sufficient air-conditioner, complimentary shampoo bottles of another hotel that smelled like used urinal cakes, no face towels, no beach towels, no mini-bar and so on...) Actually it was our second trip here, so the room standard wasn't a suprise, we returned for the location. The worst thing is the arrogant attitude of the management. Most of the staff were quite friendly, but the manager made it very clear that performing even basic functions as someone working in customer service was above him. When paying 2000 baht for a meal, you don't expect your food shoved onto your table edge from the lower level without a word or a smile (come on, it's only one step you need to go up). Communal dishes need side plates, not just some extra cutlery thrown on the plate. He served us the wrong dish (chicken instead of pork, there were only two choices for the barbecue skewers, we ordered by pointing to the food on display, saying pork in English and Thai, having the cook confirm pork , and write pork down on the bill). When bringing this to the staff's attention, the only solution we could arrive at was ordering (and paying for) a second dish with the correct meat. All we got from the manager was a look of disgust and spite, and yes our bill was presented to us for 2 pork barbecue . Someone in his position would know from experience how to solve simple issues like this for guests. It occurred to me that he just doesn't care. Really horrible atmosphere, and I will never return there.

Awesome place, very relaxing holiday destination. Good restaurant at the resort and great selection of restaurants on the same beech as the resort, Toms Pizza was our favourite, great Thai food and good selection of every thing else. Would recommend this location for anyone who wants to unwind

The hotel staff is very friendly and the food, specially beef is excellent and really not too expensive, normally difficult to find in Thailand. The internet could be improved so it can be used from the rooms too. It is no big deal to change. The Vongduean beach is a great location and really worth to stay there.

This was my family with friends second visit to Cabana Resort and it is charming with the beautiful location. Though it is not up to the hotel but I find it disturbing to be met on the beach of representatives of the national park to collect money. I would appreciate if this payment could be done when booking the hotel or ticket for the boattransportation. Another disturbing detail, I suggest there are some more toilet paper in the bathroom than 1 roll. I also suggest that towels for the beachchair are availible in the room when you arrive.

Very basic for the price I payed. Appart from the location have nothing positive to say. $100 Aus is way too expensive for what you get - cheap furnishings that could break any time, rock hard beds, poor breakfast choice, Stayed at the Samed Pavillion Resort the last time and that place was of a far higher standard.

Excellent location. Beach front rm is right on the beach. Take the Malibu boat from tha Pae pier, very convenient. Rm was great, except one thing, that bathrm. Bathrm needs to be cleaner. There are so many flies at the restaurant as well, need to manage the garbage better. Overall would go back there and recommend to everyone.

Very good resort with very friendly & attentive staff. Facilities are a little dated as are other resorts. The only negative is the amount of rubbish in water from ships, ferries or whatever source. Makes swimming on some days very unpleasant.Requires Government action as problem all along East coast.

Tilbragte 3 dage på Koh Samet. Boede i en dejlig bungalow med udsigt til strand og havet. Vi var der en weekend, hvor der også var et større thaiselskab, der fik en stor del af personalet opmærksomhed. Great location. Friendly and helpful staff, but still (we were there in March 2011 as well as Jan 2012) no credit card facility. Restaurant food is OK but it IS a great place to eat it. Rooms we were in were both clean and adequate, with all necessary facilities, but hey, they are on the beach front (or, for our first night, 20m back) on a small island, so perhaps one shouldn't expect the earth. The rooms round the nice pool are newer, but none of them actually front onto the beach.

Rooms were clean and except for a below average shower cap (spray a bit to narrow, but I m a shower freak so I might be too severe) I really enjoyed my cabine and had a great bed. I have stayed at the Samet Cabana before, and the first time I thought it was an amazing place to stay. However, this time we went, I was highly disapointed by the uncleanliness, service, and breakfast in the morning. My family and I will not go back to Samed Cabana. The staff really need to learn some manners, they are disrespectful, and it took so long to be serviced. The uncleanliness of the room was appauling, and the sheets and the beds were filthy. Overall our stay was not memorable in a positive way. I don't recommend anyone to stay here. definitely not value for money.

It was my 15 th. time in Thailand and my first time in Koh Samed. The staff of the Hotel were very unfriendly, the breakfast was poor and the room was much different to the phantastic photos in Internet. My girlfriend and I was very disappointed. We had a beachfront bungalow, the location was good, directly at the beach. At the beach is to much traffic, the water is not so clean as for example in Koh Chang at White Sand Beach.

This was my first trip to Ko Samet but will certainly not be my last, I had unit 12 which sits about 25 meters from the water and inbetween two huge mango trees. It was beautiful. Cabana was very nice, the bathroom so so but I didn't care. The Staff was the best part of my stay, so freindly, so helpful so accomadating! can't say enough good things about them. The restaurant was great, cheap and clean.

Booking service sent me a confirmation number and them informed me two days later that they made a mistake and that the cabana I reserved was no longer available. This is how I ended up at Samed Cabana Resort,the place where I had reserved was much newer and nicer. Look at your place on Google Earth, you want to stay at a place that has its own beach, anf the resort takes care of it. The places that share a beach and restaurants, minimarts tend to be noisy and the beach littered with garbage in the morning. They clean it up but its still a mess on such a beautiful beach.

A very nice place,the beach front bungalow basic but clean,we rent a quad and drive all around the island,we enjoyd ourselves a lot,only one problem, we have a child four years old,he doesn't eat Thai food,so I take with me everything to cook him pasta,one day I couldn't cook in the room, so I asked to staff to cook spaghetti in their kitchen and they sayd that the restaurant was full and we have to wait,after one hour we went away and made child eat somewhere else,we spend there a lot of money and it was not nice, in particular for the child,anyway a nice stay, ko samet is really a nice island.

The Samed Cabana was much better than I expected. The service is friendly and helpful and the bungalows are clean and modern. The location is perfect - close to restaurants and bars but still quiet with many sunbeds on the beach. For my surprise there was a new swimming pool which was great as the weather was not good and the sea rather raugh (low season ONLY). I surely come back to this pleasant weekend escape.

It was a great resort. The rooms are cute buildings right in front of beautiful beach. Just one thing, if you miss Malibou boat at Pae port(9:30 13:30), you have to take noraml boat requesting waiting for a long time and another long uncomprtable taxi trip. Resort and beach are so beautiful and was a great experience. Breakfast and other meals are nice and reasonable prices. Peaceful and nice.

This hotel has had a lot of stick on the comments section. I booked it to see just how bad this manager chap was. He and all the staff are fine. The location is the best on the beach. Make sure you book a beach front room. The room reflects the price. Want perfection pay 12000BHT a night and stay at The Peninsula Bangkok!

Excellent! I made a big cock up this time, forgot my Vietnam visa. Realized this at airport checking Bangkok. Sent away I jumped into a taxi to Ko Samet my next destination after Hanoi. By the time I got there SiamWebHosting had sorted out the hotel for me over the phone. When I arrived the infomous hotel manager was there waiting for me with a special drink for stress. SiamWebHosting had explained to him what I had done. He used his own phone to contact Vietnam Airlines to get my flight dates moved. I have used SiamWebHosting several times over the last few years this is the second time I have got it wrong and they have calmly put it right for me.

If you want relaxed days and fun, but not wild nights, this is the place for you. Samed Cabana's rooms are fantastic and if not directly on the beach only a few feet away. They are clean, pleasant and have wonderful front porches. Staff was friendly and helpful and the restaurant, which sits on the beach, was great. Try a Kebob for only 150 baht. I dont think you can find a better place for the money right on the beach.

Very good hotel but not the highest standard but perfectly clean and nice. Friendly and helpful staff even if it doesnt seem so at the start. Best resturant on that beach. Be aware to book a beach view room - that is a must. Nice bungalows ON the beach. We definitely would like to book that hotel again. Won Deuane beach felt like the best on Samed.Highly recomended. Take the speed boat from the pier when you go to Samed. Easy and fun to walk from beach to beach along the coast. Highly recomended hotel.

We had reserved 2 rooms for 4 adults and were told the 2 rooms were unavailable but that the family unit was suggested as an alternative. We booked the family room which was listed as 2 rooms with 2 beds. When we checked in the family room was actually a suite with a sofa bed made into the 2nd bed and was not suitable for sleeping at all. The room itself is basic for the price paid with just concrete floors and the sheets were stained. We requested different rooms and were moved to what we had requested in the first place, 2 rooms with beds for all adults. When questioned why we were not given the rooms to start with the staff was very rude. When I had read the comments posted before on siameservices.com I had thought maybe they were biasd with farang comments misunderstanding some asia attitudes. The truth is the service from the hotel front desk staff and head waiter to both forang and Thai is rude to the point of verbally abusive. I do hope that the management of this hotel reads these reviews and changes the staff. The location of the hotel is very nice with places to eat on the beach in walking distance. We were very satisfied on our experience of Samed Cabana Resort. We got good and fast service. Service was friendly, location very good and rooms clean. And it was great that the bungalows were on the beach. Breakfast was good and fresh. Only thing I would have changed is not to play the same x-mas songs all over again for two days in the restaurant. We stayed right next to it. But a positive thing was that when the bars on the other side of the beach kept partying, our restaurant closed every night around 9-10 pm, so the noise didn't continue in our restaurant. Some noise did come to the bungalow from the other end of the beach though. We recommend this place!

I was very disappointed with this hotel. Firstly, we arrived and the staff were not particuarly friendly and made me feel somewhat uncomfortable. Our room was ok but basic. We had trouble putting our belongings in the safe and when we asked for assistance we were told they would help us later and not to worry about using it. The sheets were not changed once in the 3 nights we stayed and on the last night the power went off on the whole island and as a result we had no airconditioning or refridgeration. With no indication of when the power would come back on we left the following afternoon (one night early - despite already paying for it) The breakfast was disappointing with only eggs and meat on the menu. I would not stay here again.

Whilst being the most expensive hotel on the particular beach strip, it justified this by not only having rooms that were well appointed and clean but also staff that couldn't have been more helpful. As an example, it was my son's 10th birthday whilst we were staying at the hotel and my wife had arranged for a chocolate cake to be made for him. On the day of his birthday, it was found that they had run out of chocolate with which to make the cake. However they sent specially over to the mainland to obtain the chocolate so that the cake could be made. That is what I call SERVICE ! We were there for only 4 days. I truly wish it could have been longer.

Thanks for this wonderful Holiday. It was my first trip to Ko Samet and Samed Cabana but i´m really sure it will not be the last! The service is absolutely excellent you can have everything you want and they´ll serve it with a smile. We stayed at a beachfront Cabana and the view was gorgius you had only a few steps to the white sand beach and the location is absolutely romantic and good observed. I can only say thanks vor everything and i hope we see us soon again!

Stayed at the Samed Cabana Resort for 2 nights. The staff wasn't friendly, esp a middle age man at the counter. Rooms in the resort is nice and clean though. Breakfast menu should be more creative. I lost my 2 bermudas while drying them outside my resort! Went to other resort (along the same stretch) for BBQ dinner instead of having it at this resort because I don't like feel welcome at all. Recommended for room stay but not meals and service at the hotel.

We had a Beachfront Villa: The houses itself are not luxery but functional. Not only air condiation, but also a mosquito net at the windows, so you can sleep with fresh air. The location and view is definitly the best. Also the beach is clean ideal for sunbath and swimming in ocean. Trees gives shadow on hot days. The breakfast and restaurant are not so good: only few choices for breakfast (mostly english kind). We had had fish in the restaurant for dinner which was defitely not fresh any more - but the papaya salad was very good. Better choose an other resturant on the beach for dinner. Unfortunately we had a lot of rubbish behind our house and the massage staff did their toilet also there - so we never opened our windows to the back of the house... Overall: because of the great location and ocean view we may book this hotel again.

We ve used this hotel numerous times. We live in Bangkok and therefore we ve used this as a short break retreat. The prices arent the cheapest and the rooms are very basic but the location is fantastic - we book beachfront and you are literally on the beach. Hotel front of house staff have a lot to be desired, particularly reception - dont expect a welcoming glow !! If you can get past this without taking offense you'll have a great time.

I forgot to review this hotel after I stayed here in November. The hotel was OK, the pictures are accurate of the Sea View Bungalows. I think that the hotel is a little out of the way and due to no lights around is a little difficult to find in pitch black.

The beachfront room we stayed in was excellent. Service staff at the hotel were very helpful and extremly friendly. Food at the hotel restaurant was good and reasonably priced. The Fireshow on the weekend out the front of the hotel restaurant was a bonus! The beach was also quiet and a great environment to relax in. Will definitely return on my next trip.
