This is a hotel that is aging gracefully. I can overlook the minor problems because the room is nice, the staff is wonderful and the grounds are very nice. It's not perfect but for the rate I was paying it was a great value.

having this been my 7th trip to phuket i thought that i would try a smaller resort and chose Salathai Resort, from the time the taxi pulled up until we left our time at Salathai could only be described as PERFECT the staff and i mean ALL staff were great fun and friendly rooms were comftable pool and grounds very well kept and quiet even though it is so close to everything over all the BEST place i have ever stayed in out of all of our trips to phuket and will be the only resort we will stay in the future, well done Salathai

vi hade bokat rum med dubbelsäng, när vi kom dit fick vi ett rum med två enkelsängar, air konditionen var trasig, men dem kunde inte ge oss något annat rum för dem var fullbokade sa dem, fick ingen annan kompensation heller. Rummet kändes smutsigt och kuddar och täcke luktade gammalt svett. riktigt äckligt. Om vi ska nämna något som var bra så var det frukosten, samt pool området. men de är också det enda. Hit åker vi inte igen!!

This is my second time at Salathai and I leave with great memories again. The rooms at the back are a bit noisy (some machine is working non-stop and you may have trouble sleeping if you are fussy) so I had to sleep somewhere else the first night before the room in the middle became available. Otherwise, spotless clean, comfortable, no excesses and OTT, great breakfast, VERY friendly staff. Look forward to returning there!

This is the a really good hotell from several aspects. The location is perfect with it´s walking distans to the bech and center of aktivities. The staf is very very friendly, serviceoriented and speak english. The room, pool and the yard/garden is very good. This hotell and it´s staff is paying attention to all the small details that really makes a diffrens. This is not a modern fancy place but a very cousy and familiar atmosfear.

This was the second time on our trip to Thailand that we stayed at the Salathai. So glad we chose it, and if we re in Patong again we will definitely choose it again. Hearty praise for the lovely staff at reception (especially Art and Sunny) - always ready with kind smiles and unfussy help. You are an asset to the hotel! Or daughter is coming in December and we know she will be well looked after. The Salathai Suite is beautiful (with just one small gripe - there's a sound of machinery - some sort of pump perhaps? - not loud, but can be heard through the night). Patong is a seedy necessary evil - we need to stay somewhere on our way to and from Phi Phi - but the Salathai is an oasis that makes it OK.

Salathai was a very friendly hotel. The staff are helpful and typical Thai style nothing was too much. The beds were very hard but when asked if the beds could be softer they put a soft top on. The only complaint was the pool was starting to go green and needed a bit vmore of a clean. The frist night we were away from our children but it was sorted the next day. We would recommed this to anybody and would stay there again. It is so close to everything.Some of the bath rooms on the ground floor need to be up graded. We had two differen't rooms one up graded on not. Up grade room a lot nicer

Great service. The only problem was the airport pick up. None was there and we waited 1/2 hour for our pick up. We nearly got a local taxi service as we weren't sure if we would be picked up and didn't want to wait too long in our winter clothes as it was hot and humid.

What a fantastic place to stay. A little oasis so close to beach, shopping, night life etc. Wonderful, happy, helpful staff. We dined in a lot and loved the choices and the prices were so cheap. We booked all our tours through Salathai and these worked out perfect for us. We would not hesitate to book here again.

This Hotel is in a great position in the centre of Patong. The rooms are well kept and standard quality. The service was extremely high standard and staff are friendly, helpful with a good understanding of english. We will definitely be staying here again

First time I have been to Phuket and spent along time checking out the hotels on the internet and am so glad that I chose the Salathai Resort, cannot fault it in any way, great location, about a minutes walk to the beach and a short walk to Bangla Road where the main nightlife is located. Good swimming pool where you can really relax in a quiet atmosphere and when I saw my room ......wow ! fantastic. I would stay at this hotel anytime.

With 4 adults and 2 kids, we spent 2 nights at Salathai Resort in 2 Deluxe rooms at ground floor. 42 rooms. First of all the rooms were excellently spacious, bright and clean. all amenities in place and flat-screen TVs. As for the Swimming pool it was clean and at the right side, and always kept clean at all time, convenient for swimming till late night. Probably only one downside could be the kids pool which the edge of the pool kind a rough as my son got scratched and bleed a litle bit. A little retrofitting with non-skid material will be perfect. One of aircond in the room was down due to ELCB turned off at one night but the fixing was down right away, excellent support. Morning buffet was perfect in American style mixed, right for the money. Although it only has about 42 rooms, but I would say the hotel it's just at the right location of Patong, 2 mins to the beach and 5-10 mins to crowded Bang La Road night entertainment. Though, it is kept away from noise, totally a peace of mind during bedtime. All the hotel staffs are helpful. Defintely one of the best resort/inns to stay at Patong with a right price to pay. For sure worthy of recommanding and expecting a come back for another stay. Once again, thanks a lot.

I have just returned from the Salathai Resort, after spending two weeks there and I had a very enjoyable stay. The rooms were cleaned every day , the linen changed daily, and the cool drinks and water in the fridge were replaced daily, also free of any charges for them. I found the staff helpful and friendly and there was ample choice of food in the dining room at breakfast time. The evening dinners I had were mainly in the Salathai, as they were not much cheaper down the road. The Swimming pool was clean and well maintained , and although I was by myself , I was allowed to take a friend back to my room at night - free of any extra charges. The only thing that worried me was the Glazed tiles on the floor of the bathroom. You could very easily slip over on a wet floor, and break a leg, hip or arm. These tiles should have been non skid surface , when they were laid , so do take care when walking on them. I had a great stay at the Salathai and will be back there next year. I highly recommend this Resort for holiday accommodation. Top Marks !!

Excellent boutique-like hotel, located close to the beach and short walk to all the nightlife along Bangla Road. This hotel is a great value! The only slight drawback is the bathroom. There's no tub or shower stall, so it's more a shower room and all the floor gets wet.. but not a big deal. Hotel staff is friendly and offer good service.

I am very pleased. The location is away from the loud and busy, close to the beach and in a good area. The staff is very, very nice to deal with. Restaurant is good. The pool was clean and nice atmosphere, very relaxing. I found the room very comfortable. I have only 2 complaints, No elevator; in 100 degree heat and 90% humidity the stairs are a killer and the bed. The bed was as hard as a rock. Other than those two things I loved it and will be going back.

Salathai Resort is a beautiful and very nice hotel.The rooms are just perfect.They have a nice restaurant with some good food.We never woke up for breakfast so we can't say anything about that. We always ordered ala carte breakfast and that was good.The Pool area is beautiful, it is in a small garden like place.No noise from outside.and Bangla road is just in walking distance. and the beach is just 100 meter away.A very beautiful place to stay.And we will come back again.

Hotel was very nice,good value for money, situated far enough from the hustle and bustle but an easy walk to all the action going on. initial had a problem with the 1st room offered had a very musty dank smell to it, 2nd room had a nosiy air conditioning unit but this got sorted out quickly a 3rd room was found,with no problems had a great seven night stay, Staff were excellent,helpfull and very frendly. Food was excellent and well priced The complementry breakfast was top notch. we would go and stay again

Another great stay at the Salathai. Please read my previous reviews as the hotel hasn't changed. The only problem I had this time was the internet speed wasn't stable. This is a nice calm bungalow-type hotel with a pool. The room was nice a large. The personel was nice and helpful. My partner is a ladyboy and there were absolutely no problems with it. There were only two drawbacks: (1) the wifi was unreliable; (2) there was not enough space to store cloths and other items in the room. Overall, the hotel was very good.

Excellent value and property! My wife and I would HIGHLY reccommend this property! Very nice and clean. The grounds are great, pool is clean and all facilitys very nice as you would expect. The staff was the best part of all!! They make you feel like you are a part of the family and like you are the most important part of their day when they are assisting you. We used the staff to arrange some tours and things for us and they got better prices and arrangements than we could get elsewhere! Laundry was good, fast and accurate. Meals were very good. The Thai cooking class was excellent and I would recommend doing it! We will be back again!!

This is a great hotel and our second time staying there. We had 6 days in July.The location is central but the hotel is quiet a real little oasis. Very easy to walk anywhere in Patong. The pools is great. Not over crowded ever and the hotel food is absolutely excellent. Staff service is first class they make you feel special. The hotel rooms and particularly bathrooms need some refurbishment. I understand that is now due. As soon as that is complete we will be back. Great stay.

One of the best places I ve ever stayed. The Salathai is situated on a street which some say is bustling . I would however here disagree. It's pleasantly lively, but it isn't Bangla! As soon as you step in, it's clear you re somewhere special. The restaurant where breakfast is taken is almost on the street, and makes a pleasant outlook. Step further inside though past the reception desk, and you re in another world. The gardens are lush - there is no other word. The pool with recliners surrounding is fantastic, and everywhere is so clean. I saw the walkway outside the rooms being pressure cleaned whilst I was there. Scattered around are little pools with lillies, and if you look inside, there are lots of tiny colourful fish living there. Some have said on tripadvisor that the rooms feel dated and one report said even shabby. I have no idea where they have that idea from - can only think it was a rival hotelier lol. Yes the rooms are furnished in darkish wood furniture, but it's all very pleasant. No, you won't find ultra modern glass everywhere decor, but it's comfortable, the beds edge towards the harder side, but this is preferred by me anyway. The only criticism perhaps is the bathroom which is like a wetroom. It's probably time for a little refurb here - and I believe this is exactly what's happening to this hotel. Really though I d be hard pressed to think where it could be improved. Something I have to say is regarding the breakfast. Many reviews have said how it's basic and not good. They must have taken this criticism on board, because now it is fantastic. There's a choice of warm food - usually some sort of meat mini steak. There's noodles, fried rice, beans, sausage and bacon. There's also a fresh egg station where you can order omlettes. Besides this, there's choices of fruit juices, cereal with milk, then there's toast, coissants, danish pastry, and also a choice of tropical fruit. Really I don't think you can ask for more, unless you re a full english/irish/scottish breakfast freak. The staff are wonderful, nuff said. Clientelle - well this will obviously change week by week, but I found it was a nice mixture, couples, familes with young children and some single discerning travellers. Unlike some hotels I ve stayed at, the wifi is fast and reliable, with few dropouts, and I was able to keep friends updated via facebook and my blog. The minibar is great, and in low season is complementary. The aircon is efficient (important). I had two minor complaints whilst I was there - the sink pipe became detached, and there was a mosquito lurking problem in the room (A previous guest must have left the door open during the day). These were both dealt with extremely quickly - within 10 minutes. All in all, if you re looking for a friendly and reasonable hotel in beautiful surroundings, near to the nightlife but where you'll get a good nights sleep - you will have to go far to beat the Salathai.

I agree with prior reviews stating the hotel was better than expected!! The hotel's 2 star category is underrated.. The hotel should be at least a 3 Star property. The hotel is not large, so offers a boutique like atmosphere, with nice clean rooms, a large pool and garden area, a good restaurant and a most friendly and helpful staff. The hotel's location is excellent, close to the beach and to the nightlife. Hard to beat for the price..

Salathai was better than expected, the room was neat and clean. The minibar in the room is FREE and is replenished daily with a few sodas and some beers. Everything you need within walking distance, laundry, tour operators, massage, 7Eleven, restaurants etc...You can hire sun loungers at the beach for 100 baht/day/person - very reasonable! The hotel is the middle of everything. 2 min walk to the beach, a 5 min walk to the shopping centre or 4 min walk to the local market...you have it all at you feet! The hotel also offers a free shuttle service at specified times to Phuket town, Central Shopping Complex. Look no further, this is where you'll want to stay.

This was our first visit to Thailand and we were pleasantly surprised by the friendly reception we received from the hotel staff. The hotel is centrally placed in Patong but is quiet with a nice garden and swimming pool. The breakfast is ample with a variety of choices but the food in general is not particularly inspired. We stayed in a Salathai suite but the bathroom was hopeless regarding lighting and the shower curtain was wrongly placed, so the bathroom looked more like a swimming pool after a shower! Among the amenities we appreciated were the beach towels,beach bag and sandals as well as the complimentary mini-bar, which was refilled every day. The tv had limited programmes but the free wi-fi connection worked well. All in all, we think this hotel gives good value for money and look forward to returning.

This was my second stay at the Salathai Hotel and it was as good as ever. The location is perfect with a well maintained swimming pool, set in charming Thai gardens which help drown out all the noise and bustle of the streets outside. The location is within walking distance of the Jungceylon shopping complex, the entertainment centres of Patong, Patong gym but also located for those seeking quiet and relaxation. There is a very good clean massage opposite the hotel, straight across the soi and walking distance to the beach is about 5 minutes. All deluxe rooms are located on the ground floor and the room I occupied for 3 weeks (room 106) is directly opposite the jacuzzi. Very nice. The room is like the rest of the hotel;- well maintained and cleaned with new linen and towels etc every day. The bathroom has a shower and bathtub which is important;- On the 3rd night my air-con broke so I was moved to a superior room 206 on the next floor for one night while they fixed it. These rooms do not have a bathtub and are wet bathrooms and can be slippy. This year the minibar is complimentary and kept stocked up each day. There are a couple of beers and about 8 cans of soft drinks. Fantastic. The Wifi internet is free with reasonable speed and there are two computers dedicated to guests at the front of the hotel. There are hotel shuttles to Phuket Town 3 times a day. The breakfast was very good and consists of Thai food and western cuisine. There are fresh fruits, juices, croissants, yogurts, bacon, sausage and meats. There is always a chef at breakfast that will cook omelettes etc to your satisfaction. The staff for this hotel are super friendly. They were last year when I stayed and are always willing to help you out. Overall this hotel is a fantastic place to stay for the price, has excellent amenities, a very good location, a super friendly staff and well I’ll be back in 2010. Enough said.

Fantastic staff - very friendly, went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. Highly recommend the 3 hour Thai Cooking class. We were taken to the local market to select the ingredients to make a 4 course meal. It was the best food that we had during our stay. I would love to stay here again and have the time to spend in the pool and not just shop! So close to the action of Patong - but very quiet at the hotel.

I LOVE this place! Friendly, pleasant, cosy and warm. It truly shows the smile of Thailand! I will definitely return to this resort. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. The hotel had a lot of things going for it including great location, superb helpful staff, and extraordinary restaurant. The swimming pool was very good. My room was generally very good, very clean, and the housekeeping service was excellent. But I was disappointed in the bathroom because there was no separation between the shower and the rest of the bathroom, so water went all over the bathroom floor every time I used the shower, requiring me to dry up the floor. The other disappointment was the television service, there was only one functioning English language television channel (Bloomberg News).

Lovely hotel, great pool but not enough sun lounges to go around. Good sized grassed area near pool too. Room was faultless, spot-on service. Unfortunately they put us in a twin room not the double we had booked, but they did push the 2 king singles together and we were sunburned anyway... Happy hour is good with 2 for 1 drinks. Great location, short walk to beach, far enought away from the really noisy part of central Patong bars & music all night which could keep you awake! But still close enough for a walk to go there.

It is a wonderful resort, well located, walking distance to the beach and the nightly activities and yet set in quiet surroundings,shaded by trees and overlooking the pool. Well I have to say that i was very happy with the Hotel. The staff are very friendly and the rooms are more than adequate with balconies looking over a beautiful pool. I had absolutely no problems throughout my stay and wouldn't hesitate booking the Hotel again. Very highly recommended! When we arrived, my friend and I had been booked into the same room by mistake but the problem was sorted with minimal fuss and my friend even received an upgrade for the first night, so no problems there.

Our experience at the Salathai Resort was very good. It's in a great location in Patong and is close to the beach, shops and bars but far enough away that it is like a sanctuary from the chaos. I particularly liked the fact that it is a smallish hotel which kept it personal and family orientated. Our room was clean and suitable for our needs and best of all the price was extremely reasonable. We found the staff all very friendly and polite and nothing was too much trouble for them. The other patrons were also family orientated. I would definitely stay at Salathai Resort again and we highly recommend it for other travelers.
