Hotel is very expensive. Rooms quite ok. Huge disappointment that spa was already closed and swimming pool was dirty. We even got rash from the pool! Near the resort is small, cheap and good restaurant without the 17% service charge. Scenery are superb!

For such a beautiful location, the hotel and room were a severe disappointment. The hotel front on the beach was busy with boats all day and the staff were overrun with visitors, so getting any kind of service was very difficult. The restaurant was full of flies, breakfast was chaotic there were so many people and the food was limited - we had to pay extra for bananas if we wanted them - only watermelon and pineapple every morning! Our room had a nice patio but we couldn't use it because it was so hot and needed a fan. There were no decorations at all on the walls of the room. This pristine, idyllic location deserves more respect and protection from over-tourism. However, we did find tranquility at the resort next door, Thanya, which shares the same beach , along with much better food.

Rummen är av varierande kvalitet. Sviterna i strandängar är perfekt om man har små barn med sig. De kan leka på terassen som har tak och bättre mot stranden. Det gör det enkelt att vara på stranden samtidigt som barnen sover i rummet också. Väldigt bra service. Enda nackdelen är att det är många fladdermöss som flyger runt när det blivit mörkt, vilket gör det omöjligt att sitta ute på terassen om kvällarna.

Vi hade höga förväntningar på detta hotell efter alla bra recension men vi blev riktigt besvikna. Rummet var fint men vi hade betalt efter för varmvattendusch och det kändes sådär när vattnet värmdes upp av en gaslåga som man fick tända själv. Servicen var en katastrof. Personalen var stressade och sprang mest omkring. Maten var dyr och smakade inget vidare. Gå hellre iväg till de andra resorten på stranden. Frukostbuffén var snål och dålig Läget på stranden var bra och sanden fin. Skönt med gräs när man har småbarn.

Very overpriced resort. The resturant was a huge disappointment, we ordered 4 dishes and not one got right and the food that was served was not good at all. The breakfast was just chaos. Flies and wasps all over. I will NEVER come back to Fatansy resort. The whole stay felt like a ripoff!! I love Koh Hai but Fatasy resort almost ruined our stay.

Hotel was at best location of the beach. In general all hotels on Koh Ngai are very expensive in comparision to other accomodation in Thailand. On other islands we had much better bungalows for less money. Generally it is a common habit of most of the restaurants on Koh Ngai (exept Seafood & Villa) to add 10 % service charge and 7 % VAT to the invoice what we never had before in Thailand and results in an expensive holiday as everything on the island is in general more expensive than elsewhere in Thailand. For such a big hotel (89 rooms) there were not enough sunchairs and parasols. But even if these are all negative comments we had a nice stay and a relaxed holiday on this small island.

Hi, we stayed in Koh Hai for 8 nights were we dived/snorkeled and read a lot of books. We had a nice time on this “resorty” island. General about the island: The best part of the island is the relaxed atmosphere. You can really relax here. The worst part is the restaurants were the food is worse and the prices are higher than on the mainland. Diving/snorkeling Also I have to warn all of you that are going here for the diving.. Since this is a small island divetrips to the cool places only occur sporadicly, even in high season. There are simply not enough divers here. The german own divefirm (rainbow divers) is very open about this and works around it. I highly recommend them. There is also a Thai divefirm. They constantly lies and tells you that there is a dive the next day as a way to weal you in. Don't make my mistake and believe them. The dives are always canceled in the evening before just after the german diveschool is closed. They take a chance and try to weal you in hoping that there by some kind of miracle will be enough divers for a trip. I lost two days of diving before I figured out their tactics. I hate liers so please don't go diving with them. Now to Koh Hai resort. I start with the bad... The rip offs in the restaurant. The worst thing with Koh Hai fantasy resort was, like many other resorts on the island, the restaurant. They rip you of when you order fish. The weight on the scale is not the same as the weight on the bill. Since I saw the scale when I choose my fish. When confronted the once nice waitress forgot how to speak English, blushed and ran away with a nervous smile on her face. This really Ruined my impression of Koh Hai fantasy resort as a serious establishment. Also Thailand as a holliday destination is quesetioned.(See my comment on the thai divefirm as well) On top of the very deliberate scams, this place the restaurant adds 17% to all prices. Most (not all) of the restaurants on the island add 10% tax to their prices, some add 0%. Other restaurants on the island: If you have decided to live here even though they are thieves you should go the camping restaurant next door. Much more value for money as long as you stay away from the pad thai (worste I ever tried) and wear shoes(There are broken bottles in the sand.). If you go to the other neighbor you find the best restaurant on the island at Tanya Koh Ngai Resort. Also if you are up for a longer walk Coco Cottage has a restaurant with good food and excellent staff. And since we are on the subject of restaurants I feel the obligation to warn you for the drinks on Mayalay resort and the food at Thapwarin resort. The rest of the restaurants(We have tried them all) are ok but we can't recommend any of them. Simply put, if you want the best value for your money, go to Tanya, Coco or the camping. Good things at Koh Hai fantasy resort: The rooms at Koh Hai fantasy resort is situated at the best part of the islands east beach. Good at high tide and possible to use at low tide. Compared to most of the resorts at the island the fantasy resort offers good value for money.(We also stayed at Thapwarin which offered a worse quality bungalow for more money.) Observe that I don't compare to other places in Thailand since Koh Hai in general is very expensive. We had a superior room(Some superior rooms are bungalows and this one was.) up closest to the jungle. Quite a bit to walk but a nice view. Peter

The room was worth every baht paid. For $50 in peak season you get a good 3-star room on the beautifully gardened land, 30 metres from the best strip of the beach on this lovely island (overrun with extremely talkative German families in the day and mosquitoes in the evening, howewer). Restaurant is equally good and reasonably priced, and service is fantastic. You can get a (very professional) thai massage for 350B per hour in a good spa. There are only a few drawbacks: the standard (cheapest) room lacks hot water shower (HINT: you can use hot shower in a spa if you take massage), and the big patio doors have a view right into gray concrete wall :) Another thing is that beach bungalows are quite cramped. You know, if I paid $150 for a bungalow I would definitely not like it's view of another bungalow's wall and people passing through. It's OK for $50, but for the $150 it's not good. Only the 1st row of bungalows have a real sea view.

We had a wonderful stay. If the pool was located closer to the beach front, we would have used it more. The beach was perfect. The hotel had a little play place for our kids to hang out in. The staff was friendly--especially our waiting staff: Top. I wish there was more of a personality at the hotel, but that will only come when there are owners present.

Koh Hai Fantasy is located on a nice island with one of the best beaches and cristal clear wather in Thailand. We had a super beach front bungalow, unfortunatelly the only thing that was super , was the name. The chairs on the terrace were quite dirty and there were not enough sunchairs and sunumbrellas at the beach. Some families had to sit somewehre between the bungalows in the shadow... quit sad for this price! Stuff was nice but absolutely overstrained. This was our fifth time in Thailand... and the first time we felt really disappointed! We definitely can't recommend this Resort it is absolutely overpriced.

Vår favoritö! Vi bodde i ett beach front room, inte bungalow. En fantastisk utsikt (tom från toaletten genom ett stort fönser som vette ut mot rummet och havet)! Havet låg 10 meter utanför balkongen. Fantastikt vatten och ett fint rev för snorkling som ligger 20 meter ut. Stor skillnad mellan ebb och flod men inget som stödre oss. Poolen var inget att ha, låg trist och var inte speciellt ren.

Koh Ngai is no well kept secret. Whole beach plastered with resorts. Lots of swedish people with kids at the resort. The beach is wonderful. In a year or two though, the beach and water will be polluted by the growing tourism. If you want seclusion and isolation, gp somewhere else than koh ngai - dont trust Lonely Planet 2009 edition or other guide books - they are old already! That said the hotel is okay - If you cannot afford a Super beachfront bungalow then dont even bother - the rest of the rooms are not great value for money. Try Mayalay next door - the huts look soooo nice. The restaurant is a big turnoff.

A very nice resort, perfectly located at the best part of the beach. Nice and clean rooms. Very good restuarant with decent prices. People came from other resorts to eat here. We can highly recommend the Fantasy. Good to know - the trail to the other side of koh hai starts at Fantasy wich is convinient. Also bring bathing shoes since there are lots of small stones and rocks in the water at the beach.

Great service (booking of trips, tours and other hotels), super friendly staff, delicious food, professional spa, great location to recharge your batteries and do some daytrips to other islands/diving/snorkeling/emerald cave. Nice island but there's really not much to do in the area. The beach is nice. The resort is in a spectacular area of Koh Hai. It's great for families who spend a lot of time hanging out at the beach or pool (small). We ate several meals at the hotel and the food was okay. Not great, but good. The Thai massage too expensive (2000 Bath)and the restaurant to. All in all, we felt this hotel was too big (not cosy).If you want cheap eating go to Koh Sukorn or Koh Mook. We will not come again.

Our visit to Koh Hai was really great. We staid in an Air-con dubble room. The view wasn't great from the room but the surroundings on Koh Hai is surely fantastic. The service in the restaurant was very good and we got our favorite waiter. Don't forget to try the wounderful banana pancakes in the resaturant up-beach Koh Hai Fantasy Resort!

We had a wonderful stay at this resort! Our two children, the age of 8 and 5, really enjoyed it too. There´s no salesmen/women on the beach and nothing to buy. If you want to relax, this is the place for you. The only thing we didn´t like was that the pool was situated a bit from the beach. Our children wanted to bath in the pool and we in the sea.. We will come back again!

Wonderful resort. At first we had booked the Garden Villa in Bali zone which looked nice from the pictures. Unfortunally it didn´t look as nice IRL.. There were a lot of noice from the jungel and the villa had a strange smell. So we switched to the beachfront bungalow instead (much more expensive but beautiful!). We stayed for a week and we loved it. It was the peak season but the hotel wasn´t fully booked. Not to good breakfast. Very helpful staff and the waitors in the restaurant were wonderful. Would absolutly stay here again!

Overall the resort is fine, but it could be better and it looks better at dark (i.e. in the evening) than during the day... Some small details would make some difference, at least for the first impression (e.g. white sun umbrellas instead of those pink ones, provided by some sponsor, I guess...) I got a room in the Bali Zone (Garden Villa). The room was clearly the same I saw on the website, but unfortunately it DID NOT look exactly like in the pictures... MAINTENANCE!! MAINTENANCE!!! The hotel management should learn this simple word: MAINTENANCE! One lamp in the bathroom was going to fall down and nobody cared about it. The stuff to hang the towel near the shower was broken and of course nobody cared about it... The ceiling of the bedroom needed to be re-painted... BLACK curtains (or double-layer curtains) would be needed, as at 7AM the room was plenty of light (and one might be willing to sleep on holiday, isn't it?). Shortly, I did not find any main issue during my stay there, but in my view many small details are overlooked by the management. As I paid 2500THB per night, per room (single), honestly I expected a perfect room, but mine was clearly not.

The hotel was really nice and the employees very friendly and helpful. We stayed in A/C Deluxe room which was very basic (no hot water), but it was ok and it even had a partial sea view. The beach and the hotel area was beautiful. The spa in the hotel is expensive. Food wasn't great in the hotel or the other restaurants on the island... probably because we aren't too fond of thai food and no western food was available. Evenings were a bit boring, because there isn't much to do on the island. Hotel restaurant closes at 9 pm and there was only one bar on the beach. Koh Hai is a great place to go and relax for a couple of days, but bring a good book for entertainment ;).

Big resort, good organized, very friendly people, beach good for swimming during high tide, but at some places also possible at low tide, nice house reef , but bad sight under water; some nights the frogs round the bungulows cried really very loud, food was okay, rooms are clean and comfortable (we stayed in a sea view bungalow)

Resort was exactly as advertised. Very nice and clean resort. We stayed in the Garden View bungalows which for me were just as nice as the Beach front ones. I highly recommend Fantasy Resort. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. However, the day-trips to the other islands could have been more flexible.

Took much too long to confirm our reservation. i think we did not get a confirmation until 4 days after we started the whole booking process. however, once done, everything was fine.

A high standard resort with very nice staff. Clean and tidy bungalows. The restaurant have a wide selection of various dishes. We really enjoyed our stay at Fantasy Resort. I do recommend the resort and hopefully we will be back soon. Tip! Rent a kayak and go out to Koh Ma and do some snorkeling.

Paradise. The Super Deluxe Beachfront room was fantastic. Airco worked beautifully and was quiet. The beach is beautiful and decent snorkling just down about 30 meters. The staff was really nice, after a bit of reserve at first (guess they re used to Scandanavians). The only downside was that there were lots of Scandanavian families (not very friendly with strangers) so be prepared for screaming babies at dinner and kids running around the restaurant. That said, it was worth it. Like being in paradise.

The hotel was ideal for what we were looking for, even though it was high season and the hotel was full, it was very peaceful, big enough, but not too big, so you could feel that they care , was very service orientated, clean and quiet. Not for someone looking to be entretain, you have to entretain yourself.... It's not a 5 stars because is not as luxurious, but they manage to keep nature almost untached with comfort. The Thai massage at the spa was the best I try in our trip.

I would not recommend this hotel for those going to Koh Ngai. It is unfriendly except for the hard working Burmese on work leave. Front desk only advises about what they can organise and then charges well above prices out side the hotel. The restutant is very strangely run where guests MUST sit at whatever table the manager has allocated them. Clearly people want to sit at the edges to get the breeze and see the view, however we were not permitted to on numerous occasions even though there were lots of tables free. The grounds and decorations are not tasteful with unusual ceramic dogs and cartoon characters around the grounds. The pool is nowhere near the beach (not good)and was very badly maintained-one day too musc chlorine the next day full of algae.Our room was probably the best in the place, so I wouldn't have liked to be in the others. Not enough chairs and umbrellas on the beach front so there wa always a scramble to get one. I won't be going back.
