Location pretty near Aonang shopping but if u r lazy to walk, a tuk tuk is always nearby for just 60 baht per lift. We were there on low season for 3 nights on 22/9/11. Enjoy the stay thoroughly. Shower is good, bed is good, aircon is good. Room very well cleaned by keepers, they even fold 3 elephants out of our bath towels n placed it on our bed that looked so cute, we loved it very much, I regretted not giving the housekeepers some tips as appreciation for their warm service. All the staff are very friendly. Room access is fantastic! Will return to Sala Talay but hope that the hotel will continue to upkeep and maintain it's glamour as I know that it is pretty new at the moment

We stayed 3 nights at pool access room and 1 night at penthouse suite. We really love jumping into the pool everyday and we love their pool bar!! Penthouse suite is spacious. The water in the private pool was too cold to dip in coz it's shaded. The balcony is great for sun bathing as the area is open to the sky. It has a partial ocean view. Ms Yanisa speaks good fluent English. She answered all my touristy questions with no problem. Most of the staff are warm and friendly, except for one who seem to man the green towels, I haven't seen him with a smile in my 5 days stay. Ao nang centre is about 15mins walk for us. We pass by several other resorts and we find that sala talay is the best one to stay in. We love the modern design of the rooms (it would be perfect if the pool access rooms were bigger.) we could tell that the hotel is pretty popular coz new guests appear right after the previous ones check out. It was nice that the hotel is adequately packed (not overcrowded.) other hotels seem like a dead town. We had a really enjoyable and memorable stay. My friend said she will check out sala talay for her next trip. ;)

I was there for one week. I had a great time. The swimmingpool is fantastic. I can recommend the rooms that have access to the pool. It is worth it. The only thing what could be better is that most employees and service stuff speaks very bad english. I think the management of the hotel should sponsor english lessons for their hotel stuff.

Reception and check-in smooth and friendly. Room clean and spacious. Seaview only when leaning out of the balcony and looking around the corner. Hotel is a bit over designed with cold naked cement walls. Breakfast is good. Restaurant service needs improvement. First evening they forgot our order and we left hungry after waiting 40 min. Not enough tables prepared during breakfast busy hour. Had to sit at naked table in the outside area and could not catch attention. Staff did not take care of arriving guests searching for a table. Beach is close, just across the beach road. Would come again, if no alternative available.

Sala Talay Resort & Spa

Accommodation and facilities:
My husband and I stayed at the Sala Talay in a pool access room mid June 2009 for 7 nights. Location of the hotel was great and has already been stated the beach is across the road (we knew this before we booked, so it didn’t bother us). We were able to walk into the main area of Ao Nang or catch a motorbike taxi whenever we chose. There are a couple of places nearby where you can drop your laundry (35baht/kilo not ironed), there is a small 7/11 type place a couple minutes walk towards Ao Nang, bars across the road, and tours booking agents nearby. Heading in the other direction the hotel is walking distance to “A One restaurant” (although we didn’t end up eating there as we ran out of nights). We were in Room 1101 which is the first room opposite the pool bar, as the hotel was only a third to half full during our week we didn’t feel our privacy was compromised, as there was only ever 3-4 people on this side of the pool bar side at any one time (there are other benches around the bar which are accessed from the lawns and reception area). The only thing that I would say is a minus for this room’s position is, it gets the direct afternoon sun from about 2pm and the decking gets very hot to stand on, the first bit of shade comes in about 4.30-5pm. All the pool access rooms in this wing get the full afternoon sun, so if you prefer a little more shade ask for one of the rooms in the wing running parallel to the beach road. Check in was smooth and the reception staff were very friendly, service was a little slow at times. The tour booking lady doesn’t encourage people or invite any interest in the tours/day trips on offer, so I’m not sure what she really did to amuse herself all day. Breakfast was ordered from a menu rather than buffet style, but the choices were reasonable and the eggs and omelets were well cooked and quite tasty. Yes, the mugs are stained with tannin from the tea, maybe they could buy new ones more often. I drink tea at home and it is definitely hard to get the stain off, so that’s when it’s time to replace them. We didn’t eat any other meals here during our stay, although I was a little disappointed as the Pakarang Restaurant was closed for renovations during our entire stay. Happy hour was from 5pm to 6.30pm daily. Our room was cleaned daily and we had to put the towels in the bath when we wanted them changed, you are supplied with x2 white towels for the shower and x2 green towels for the pool and we were allowed to take these on tour as well (obviously you would be asked to pay replacement cost if you lost them). There was a price list already in the room, I broke a glass accidently and they contacted us the next evening and I was happy to pay the 50baht price asked (I have read about this in other hotels in Thailand and that when checking out people have been asked to cover the breakage costs are less than impressed). I think I was on a mission this trip as I broke another glass at our hotel in Phuket as well. The “rain “ shower in the bathroom was brilliant and the water pressure and temperature were ideal. The pool was brilliant, (we have now become totally addicted to “pool access rooms” as this was the 2nd time we have stayed in one), water temperature was perfect (for me anyway), there was plenty of sun during the day time, pool loungers were readily available (might need more in high season). We did discover the blue grout around the tiles, but it does wash off easily, not sure what can be done in the short term, but once we were aware of it, we just avoided touching the tiles. The pool was the same depth all the way around (over 1 metre) . There wasn’t much to keep kids amused, but majority that were staying there the same time as us, were either quite young (requiring floaters and direct adult supervisison) or that little bit older and seemed to enjoy themselves. There was work going on while were there, not sure if it was renovations – I thought maybe they were still applying some of the finishing touches from the original build. It didn’t bother us, just gave us the usual amusement at the safety standards in Thailand (or should I say “lack of”). Another thing that was particularly great for us was the free WIFI available in our room, so we could use our own laptop, we just needed a code from the reception area. Of course along with “pool access rooms” this had become another requirement for future hotel wants. Overall we would be happy to return to Sala Talay if we visit Krabi again in the future.

Accommodation and facilities:
We were very disappointed with this hotel. It has only been open since December 2008 and already renovation work is being carried out on it to some of the rooms on the top floor. The design of the hotel is very modern and minimalistic and if you didn't know it was a hotel, you would have thought, from looking at the hotel from the road, that it was an unfinished building. There was no proper sign outside the hotel either. Most travellers visiting Thailand like to see Thai style buildings and we were disappointed with this, as we have been to Thailand many times and thought this style did not show off the wonderful Thai culture to travellers from other countries. The design is very poor with flat roofs which cause problems when it rains. We had nearly solid monsoon rain for two days and the roof leaked in reception, behind the reception area and also the restaurant upstairs. The rooms are very bare because of the design and there is not enough space to store clothing. The hanging space is okay, but there is no proper area (shelves/drawers) for smaller items of clothing. The room we had (Grand Seaview Deluxe) was a good size, but lacked any personality. Fresh bed linen was provided when you requested, as was the same for towels and beach towels. The staff were very friendly, helpful and were always prepared to assist you, but most of them had very little knowledge of the English language which made things difficult at times and English is a commonly spoken language across the world. The hotel was very clean, you couldn't fault that at all. The breakfast facilities are very limited in the low season, because the number of guests is a lot lower than in the high season. The wireless Internet connection was awful and we often could not get connected to the signal as it was so low, so that needs to be sorted out too. It is called a beach front hotel, but although the beach is just across the road, it is not wide enough to use as an alternative area to sunbathe. The best beach is in the next bay at Ao Nang and there are lots of restaurants, bars and shops there too and it is only about a 10 minute walk from the hotel. Also it is called Sala Talay Resort and Spa, but there was no spa and they advertise in their brochure as having a kids club, but there was no kids club either. I hope the hotel does make some changes, otherwise it will struggle to survive. You don't expect to see repairs being made to a brand new hotel and I hope this doesn't put guests off and stop them recommending it to others. I hope this review assists others when making a choice of their hotel accommodation.

Accommodation and facilities:
We booked for 8 nights at the Sala Talay and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location is good, although in the quieter area of Ao Nang which may not suit everyone. The hotel overlooks the beach across the main road and there are bars, restaurants and other facilities nearby. We booked a deluxe room on the top floor of the hotel. The room was large, had an excellent bathroom and had good sea and pool views. The public areas of the hotel were all comfortable, clean and well furnished, etc. and the pool was lovely and peaceful. The service at the hotel was good and all staff were friendly and attentive. Areas we thought the hotel could improve on? The rooms did lack storage for clothes and we thought that provision of storage drawers would be helpful. Also the breakfast was a bit limited and lacked any variation - the only nice breads were wrapped for display only, there was no cheese offered and only a choice of 2/3 fruits. We would also suggest that bar promotions should be made available at more convenient times for guests, e.g. late afternoon and later in the evenings. All in all, however, a very enjoyable stay and we would recommend this hotel to travellers who wish to stay in a quiet and relaxed hotel close to the Ao Nang central area.

Sala Talay Resort & Spa

Accommodation and facilities:
Nice hotel, friendly people, good food (more variety in breakfast would be appreciated), good location (just behind the corner of Aonang Beach). Only remark is that the website suggests that the hotel is located on the beach but in reality it's accross the street. The beach in front is not really suitable for swimming and sunbathing.

Reservation service:
Booking service was excellent, transfer to hotel also arranged through booking agent.

Top Hotel! Gerade vor 2 Monaten neu eroeffnet trafen wir sehr freundliches und hilfsbereites Personal an. Das Fruehstueck war im Vergleich zu anderen Hotels auch sehr gut in Bezug auf Qualitaet und Auswahl!
