The hotel itself is located on a fantastic beach, a dream for snorkeling and diving. This is a place for people who are not looking for party, but for quietness and a slow lifestyle . Vey nice and friendly staff, but beds as hard as rocks. Should invest in overmatrasses. There are also no phone connection there and this should be informed on their web page. No problem at all, but better with more than less info. In all, we are very pleased with our stay.

定的是最贵的海景房，结果给的是海景房，但是坑爹的前面有课椰子树挡住了海景。旁边没有挡住的房间，要求替换，或者给钱升级都可以，但是一直没有人住也不给我。退房走的时候，到处都找不到人。虽然一早知道6点到6点停电。但是发现早上5点就停了，热水一点都不热。餐厅的东西贵不说，菜单上的未必有。早餐就2块面包，也加收多了100b。唯一的亮点就是海湾。浮潜的地方不错，可以看到很有层次的珊瑚。

Great place to chill in a beautiful landscape. It is the only hotel in the beautiful Mango bay. Isolated. Only way to reach it is by boat. Free shuttle boat two time a day to the main pier and center and back. Great place to snorkel, fishes are beautiful, reef is a bit damaged but stil, it is like swimming in an aquarium. Snorkeling equipement is avalaible for rental in the hotel for only 50bath a day. The hotel has a main building with standard rooms and seaview rooms. Standards rooms are not very good because small,dark and no view. The seaview rooms are great. They are bigger, with a balcony on the mango bay. Electrcity and wifi only between 6pm and 6 am (but who cares in such a beautiful place). Restaurant is ok with standard price, beautiful view from the restaurant. Breakfast is a weak point. Staff is young and nice.

Negatives:-This was the most expensive place we stayed in Thailand and so we expected much better accomodation. The main Hotel block consisted of 16 rooms on 2 floors arranged from front to back in groups of 4. Only the front 2 rooms on each floor have windows facing the sea, whilst the rear 2 rooms have windows to the path outside. We were in a room on the inside, hence no windows. This wouldn't have been so bad if there was electricity, but the power was only on overnight from 18:30 to 06:30 which also rendered the fridge useless! The walls were paper thin and the noise from other guests seemed excessively loud - most listening to their TVs while the power was on! Positives: Mango bay is very beautiful with some lovely snorkelling for those who want to explore. Ao Muong has a lovely restaurant- a high climb above the beach, with a lovely waiter and really good Thai food. It is currently the only place to eat since the only other resort is closed. The individual bungalows set high on the hillside did look lovely and would be worth paying extra for if you can afford it. There is not much to do here apart from diving/snorkelling, but the resort offers free boat trips to Ko Nang Yuan island. Walking/exploring is almost impossible! The boat transfer from Siree pier takes about 45 mins at a very slow pace - that's with a moderate swell! In worse conditions the boat will not operate!

Хороший отель, да хотя отель это и не главное, главное место где он находится - маленькая бухта из овальных скал и с собственным кораллово-ракушечным пляжем. Место дикое, да машине не доехать вообще.Если хотите уединённого отдыха - вам сюда. Я ездила вместо экскурсии. Кораллы в воде и рыбы всякие прямо возле берега плавают, маски выдают бесплатно. САМОЕ ВАЖНОЕ!!!! В этот отель идёт бесплатная лодка(2 раза в день) встречают по прибытию парома с САМУИ и ПАНГАНА. (я к сожалению этого не знала). Иначе, туда добраться стоит 1200 за лодку!

I had a wonderful stay at Ao Muong. Beautiful room with a balcony and view of the glorious bay, good food, and terrific staff. They really are the best. The hotel itself needs some maintenance, particularly near the beach, but a bit funky doesn't really bother me. Also, it would be nice to have internet access every evening. Not available for several evenings.

although the hotel is closed for 3 months before we arrive, the condition is still excellent. Magnificent sea view of Mango Bay in our room, just cannot wait dashing down the bay snorkeling as we arrive, we are greeted by numerous beautiful coral fish and corals that stunned us. The restaurant has an even better sea view, with reasonably priced dish, one could have a unbeatable experience eating there if you enjoy Thai food. Most importantly, people working there is very very nice. Cho is a lovely girl from Burma that has very professional service and her mother would be cooking in the kitchen. Chim is a very active and amusing young guy that always cannot wait to be your friend and serve. Other than that people there i cannot remember their names are also extremely nice too!!! Definitely Recommended.

BEAUTIFUL RESORT! BEST FOOD WE HAD IN THAILAND FOR 5 WEEKS. STAFF SO WONDERFUL, FRIENDLY, KIND AND HELPFUL. Rooms not well kept, but clean. Wiew was breathtaking. BUT please consider this; No power from 6 am-6 pm. If it rains 1 day what can you do? If the wether is nice the small beach is COVERD with speed boats, longtailboats and lots of people. Makes it really hard to find an open spot for a swim. When all this crowd has dissapeared its so lovely again. You can feed the fishes, enjoy all about this lovely place. Water is so clear perfect for diving and sorkeling. We would really love to com back, if not only for the great thaifood.

This is a beautiful hotel in an amazing place. The view is incredible and most of the rooms share that gorgeus landscape. The food is good and the staff is really helpfull and always with a smile. The only thing is that when is a rainy season or windy days, the access to the hotel can be difficult. In this case is perfect if you want to isolate.

The hotel was not ready for opening actually in that week. There was no boat for transportation so we have to hike in mountain for 20 mins to get at the hotel. The bedsheet was not changed apparently because i found parts of an used condom wrap in the bedsheet which is disgusting, and there were hundreds of bugs in the night for unknown reasons. The hotel people were very nice but the facility is really really not ready for stay.

Heavenlike view! Very friendly staff! Exquisite room decoration! Isolated location assures privacy!! We ran into typhoon when going to Mango bay from the Pier, usually it takes 20 min to go, but we were stucked on the sea for 4 HOURS!!! The capitain of our ferry (Nickname: Rumbo~!) tried his MOST to take care of us, by the end, he delivered us - 5 person and our luggages seperately - by kayaking!! One by one from mouth of the bay to the hotel in the dark stormy night! It was heartquake experience for us, And because of him, it is now an advanture that we talk over and over again~~

Time I ve spent in Ao-Muong is the best time in Thailand visit. It's not the hotel with the best facility but a place with most natural atmosphere and most friendly staffs. It's like a big private garden. Everything is made in wood. You can totally enjoy the water here because there is the best clear see, white beach and all snorking, boating facilities to use, for free. The cliff restaurant is very good. Not only the view but also the food. I strongly recommend this hotel. It's not as famous as the other hotel in Mango Bay because that one is in LP. However, I think AO-Muong is better!

The resort is isolated to the village and can only accessed by boat for free pick up service. The fantastic seaview is the best across all the resort we have stayed in kok tao (especailly better than nanyuan). The young manager is lovely and very helpful. Everything is perfect and way beyond our expectation. The location of restaurant is also excellent to see the star and beautiful mango bay. We stay in the best room type 101 in the main building. It has the best seaview. in general this is a peaceful place to stay. but note that electronic is only available from 6:30pm-6:30am. during daytime, the little bay may not be quiet sometimes because of its perfect diving site for visitors.

A great location overlooking a beautiful bay. It is popular and the bay was crowded with day trippers during the day.If your room is in the main block, be warned that the walls are very thin, you can hear conversations through the walls, hear footsteps, furniture moving, and if the next room is smoking your room will fill up with smoke. We had to move once because of this. We were conscious of keeping our children as quiet as possible because of the noise level. Unfortunately the grumpy Dive instructors, who run occasional classes during the day at the bottom of the building, still found fault with our best efforts and regularly hurled insults and abuse at us so other guests could hear. This was greatly upsetting for all of our family.

Transportation to and from the hotel is poorly managed, to phrase it nicely. We had arranged for a 11.30am pick up from Mae Haad Pier, after 3 phone calls we were finally picked up at 12.30. Worst part was after arriving 1hr late they wanted us to wait for other people. The hour wait would not have been a big deal if they had kindly informed us before hand so we didn't have to sit in the sun waiting for a boat which was clearly not coming in 15mins. After that experience we thought we d confirm our boat back the day before. It printed clearly on the wall in the accommodation to confirm with the manager if you would like to be on the 1pm boat. We did this and were assured of the time. We arrived at 12.45 and waited for out boat. We were told it had just left Mae Haad Pier. We waited patiently till 1.30pm, still no boat. Spoke with the manager and told them we had a connecting ferry to catch at 2pm. He wanted our seats for lunch guest so told us to wait by the beach. He said by the time we got to the beach the boat would be there. Obviously this never happened. At 2.10 our boat arrived. We got back to Mae Haad Pier ran to the check in counter and just managed to get on the boat. Literally the last ones on. Ao Muong Resort, is totally isolated. Only accessible by boat. As the only passage in/out is controlled by the resort, you re basically at their mercy. Just keep this in mind if you are planning to go there. Even with clear communication and pre-emptive planning, the resort still manages to stuff up. Aside from the transportation problems, the accommodation is lovely (a/c did cut out for 1hr during the night...could be a once off). Very warm compared to the south as there's not much wind. Snorkelling is fantastic, but either go early in the morning or late in the evening. As boats come with other snorkellers during the day. Staff are lovely and friendly, only 1 restaurant there.

Poor. After 3 calls to get picked up, you would have expected SiamWebHosting to be proactive and ensure we did get picked up. But all they did each time we called was to say we ve spoken to the resort and they are on their way. As the company who takes my money, I would expect them to ensure I got to the destination at a minimum.

Location is magnificent but hotel leaves a lot to be desired for the price. The bay is amazingly beautiful, which is why it is assaulted every day by hordes of diving and snorkelling day-trippers. If you want to do diving or snorkelling on Koh Tao, they will take you to this bay, that's where everybody goes. So it gets very busy during the day. It's magical early in the morning or late in the evening when everybody has left (clear water, coral, fish). The hotel however is nothing special, service is none existent and the whole place seems to be run by a surly teenager in a baseball cap who does absolutely nothing all day. This is definitely NOT luxury by any means. There will be no flowers on your pillow or umbrellas in your drink, to say the least. We asked for a superior luxury room which means we were on the front apartment block and we had a breath-taking view of the bay. This is the only reason why we stayed with some reservation. Some rooms have no view at all. The room is basic and descent, not special by any standards and getting old. You expect a lot more for your money in Thailand. The individual bungalows are further into the trees and hence don't have the amazing view, in which case why stay there at all? Quite a few visitors stayed one night only and decided to go somewhere else, understandably. It is isolated, cut off from the rest of the island, not necessarily a bad thing. There is a decent restaurant with good Thai food and 2 very friendly and smiley staff who made up for the total lack of customer service otherwise. The place could be and should be sensational, but it is run on the cheap by people without a clue. The location is priceless (a snorkelling paradise) the hotel is disappointing, basic and comparatively very expensive for Thailand. Know what you are paying for!

The location of this place is truly paradice! Since it is a bit far from the crowded beaches you have to come here by boat since there is no road! But that's fine! The rooms are quite OK and since I know this place will do some reparations I really recommend it. The place needs some renovations but it has SOOO much potential! The food is good and quite cheap but be aware that there is only one restaurant for food in the surrounding. No network for cell phones et.c. We will for sure come back whenever we return to Thailand! We came to Thailand for diving but snorkeling at this place was far better than the diving. Negative: The private beach is pretty small and there is no pool. There are always boats coming in overcrowding the beach with divers et.c.

We were travelling with two children 9 and 12 and looking for a quiet location with the best snorkelling. Au Muong is in a great location for snorkelling with a small sandy beach making entry to the sea easy and safe, so we were not disappointed from this. We expected the resort to be fairly simple due to fairly remote location but felt it was run down, many of the steep wooden steps leading up from the beach were broken and could be really quite dangerous, litter left by the many visitors to the beach during the day was left at a particular point on the edge of the beach but staff did not move it so it spite of people's efforts it would easy re enter the sea. Service at the restaurant was quick and friendly but the quality of the food was very basic and our room was adequate but expensive for what it was. We enjoyed our stay here but feel the owners of Au Muong could put a bit more effort in maintaining the resort to offer better value for money.

I am writing this review back in Singapore. Ao Muong Resort is very close to paradise or heaven. The water there is so clear that you can do snookering right near the beach. There are many corals, which attracts many various types of fishes. Personally, I love it so much! I ve also been to Koh Nanyuan island from Ao Muong Resort. Compared with Koh Nanyuan, Mango bay is much better in terms of diving and snookering, because there seems to be more fishes in Mango Bay. The Ao Muong Resort boss is so nice and kind! Food is also very nice! Tom Yum soup is really delicious. Very miss it...

If you re up for a bit of exercise as well as snorkeling this is the resort for you. Lovely bungalows with electricity from 6pm-6am, very good restaurant with spectacular view. We stayed for two nights and really got our fill of snorkeling, reading and relaxing (really not much else to do) and it truly is an amazing place just to chill out. The execise? The bungalows are on the hillside above the restaurant so this makes for quite an upward trek.

It was perfect for us. We were on our honeymoon and spent 11 days here! Small small beach, but cleanest and nicest out of all the beaches on the entire island. Best place for snorkelling on the island-- it's free if you stay there. This place is very private, only accessible by ferry boat (free if you stay at the resort). There are lots of stairs-- and it is a good workout to get to and from the beach and restaurant from your cabin. Cabins are very nice, looks like the pictures. This was one of the only resorts that actually looks like the pictures (we checked out all the ones on the south and west side of the island). Free pick-up from Mae Head Pier, the main pier on Koh Tao. Usually, no electriciy (meaning no A/C) from 6am-6pm. And no internet access at the resort. Service was excellent-- friendly, efficient... we felt like we had friends after our time here. Food is good (pricey for Thailand, but cheap for Western countries), and service at the restaurant was excellent! Probably would not recommend for families with small children, the elderly, or anyone with physical handicaps... there are a lot of stairs. Would recommend for people wanting to rest, snorkell, relax, read, have a really nice vacation :)

Accommodation and facilities:
We enjoyed our time here, but it's not without it's downsides. Good points: isolated, quiet and gorgeous views. Excellent snorkelling from the bay. Food and waiting staff great. Bad points: No diving to speak of, they have a boat, but no equipment, dive leaders or other divers. We had to charter a taxi boat to collect us every morning at 06:30 to take us back to Mae Haad (from a guy called Mr. Lek who hangs out near the 7/11 and is v. reliable), so we could dive which was the main purpose of our visit. Had no water in our room on two mornings, although this was always sorted out by our return. Electricity also a bit patchy. Also lots of geckos in our room (one about 10 inches long, who scrabble and chirrup in the dark). Overall this is a great place to chill out for a few days, but I wouldn't recommend it if the primary purpose of your trip is diving, or if you re nervous around jungle critters :-)

Very good hotel in a unique and beautifull landscape, what else more I have to say, that I love it! Extremly friendly and helpfull staff, which is helping to fullfill you nearly every wish you might have. The restaurant is very good as well, and if you ask the staff to serve you something special, they are willing to do so. And don't miss the papaya-salad...you will love it. From the restaurant you have a perfect overview around the whole Mango Bay...a paradise for divers and those who were into snorkeling. Very soon they will open their own diving school/resort beside the hotel to even better support customer to these needs. As this resort is reacheable only by boat, it is a place to chill out, but nothing for party-people who is looking for party all night long. You could have a party there as well as we did, together with the great staff for saying thank you for nine outstanding great and relaxing days! I have to say, that its hillside placement results in many steps you have to climb before reaching your bungalow...so you should be fit or might train yourself at home on a stepper...the place is worth it!
