We have stayed at the Centara Duangtawan 3 times in the last 5 years. Our first stay 5 years ago was great and we really loved the hotel and have many great memories from our previous stays however time has caught up with this hotel and it is in desperate need of some major cleaning and attention. The carpet, furniture and even the bedding are old and dirty and need replacing. Cupboards and draws were missing handles. Windows were jammed shut. We asked to be moved to another room after our first room had been cleaned but was just unacceptably dirty to stay in. Our second room was better but nothing fantastic. Even the room service staff had quite dirty uniforms on. The rooms had a musty smell to them. We even notice that the seating in the foyer was quite dirty and at one stage had a sign on it requesting that guest should not sit on it. The location is the only redeeming thing about this old favorite for us. All in all it will probably be our last stay here unless the hotel undergoes some serious cleaning and maintenance.

Dirty windows. We stayed in the Dynasty room, the Dynasty Lounge staff was very nice. Good idea with the daily allowance for laundry (two items)

Only one bad incident with the bellboys and the concierge staff who should all be fired for telling lies, unfriendly, n trying to hustle guests for small -money. On the day we checked out of Duangtawan,i.e.3rd October, we requested the bellboy who came to our room to pick up luggage to have our taxi ready between 6-7pm. We were informed the price charge would be Thai Baht 150 to Baiyoke Hotel. When the time came for us to go, the bellboys informed us the cost is Thaibaht200. We were lied to by all the bellboys who insisted this is so because, 1. there is GREAT CRAWLING TRAFFIC JAM AND FAR DISTANCE.ONE OF THE BELLBOYS WAS SO RUDE, N ANNOYED BY OUR DISBELIEF THAT HE SAID, THIS MY COUNTRY, I KNOW OR YOU KNOW BETTER! 2. As it turn out, they had collaborated with a tour guide lady and wanted to provide us with, not a taxi but like a tour coach which we refuse simply because we wanted a taxi! 3.When we insisted for taxi, not a tour coach, the rude bellboy said he guarantee for our safety. We still declined to go by the tour coach. 3. They finally agree to call a taxi but told us to wait for 20minutes. This because their taxi friend in cahoots with the bellboys have to drive from somewhere and charge us Thaibaht200. As it turned out, the drive to the Baiyoke Hotel was so short, 10 MINS ONLY, NO TRAFFIC JAM AT ALL. Ms Angeline, the duty manager, whom we complained regards the attitude of the bellboys, also gave the excuse that taxi are hard to comeby in Chiangmai. The fact remains, all of them KOHOK regards the distance from Duangtawan to Baiyoke, about the traffic jam, just to earned some small money. It is not about the money! During our stay there and elsewhere in Thailand, we tipped average Thai50 baht, to waiters, houskeepers etc. We hated their dishonesty and the bellboys all trying to gang up on us and imposing that we should follow their way. So please FIRE all your bellboys or teach them about treating guests with honesty and to serve with sincerity

This hotel offers good value for money, especially at the dynasty Club in the last flats: great view over Chiang Mai, evening cocktails and free internet in lounge. Room a little old, but clean and spacious. Very good breakfast with great variety. Restaurant for lunch or dinner not bad, but almost empty of customers. Most of the staff would need an improvement of their english level. Excellent location just on the Night Market.

Mooi maar groot hotel waar veel verschillende nationaliteiten elkaar ontmoeten.Zeer goed gelegen ,aan de linkerkant de barretjes en aan de rechterkant de nightmarket. In de buurt heb je bijna alles wat je maar wilt.De kamers zijn top,zeker de badkamer [zat op de 18e].Ontbijt zeer goed , van amerikaans,europees tot halal.Op de 1e etage een reisbureautje waar je allerlei excursies kan boeken.Kan ook links aan de overkant als je wilt.Beetje aan de grote kant maar door zijn ligging het aanraden waard.

The hotel is conveniently located next to the Night Bazaar. The only minuses were slow elevator service and room A/C that was too cold to my liking and could not be tempered. Excellent shower, helpful staff, good breakfast, good swimming pool. I will certainly come back!

Good Hotel with Good Location to Markets. We had to change rooms due to noisy neighbouor in connecting room (even though we did not know them) Screaming Baby and older person with a really bad cough) Staff were a little difficult in changing rooms but after a while were OK.

Good sized clean room. Shower flooded the bathroom floor every time it was used. Staff were polite at reception. Facilities were good with a large gym and pool area, restaurant, bar, etc. A larger hotel that is a bit more impersonal but still had plenty to offer. Buffet breakfast had lovely selection of food. Restaurant had a buffet dinner which was very good value for money. Great location and lots to do and see in the area. Would consider staying at this hotel again.

Clean,well furnish and recently renovated, I find that the hotel location and overall services is very good.Reach airport about 8.40am and waited until 9am to call them since I indicated to them my arrival will be at 9am.Sent a guy over within 3 minutes but the white board indicate my name is upside down until I go for a closer examination and pointed out to him.The rest is as expected.Good choice of hotel and value for money.

Fantastic hotel which is perfectly located! The night markets and starbucks are at your footsteps!! The pool was fantastic with a view of the mountain, excellent gym with modern equipment. Super friendly staff which made the stay that extra special! My only comment is that the rooms could do with some modernisation, but it's not a major thing. We would definitely stay here again!

Hotel was located to convenient shopping and service areas which was great. Very helpful door staff and quick check-in. Perhaps too quick such that the services that required additional payment were not explained properly and that led to some embarassing encounters with other staff. The swimming pool is superb for family holidays.

Also, the companies that responded did not have the same name even though the reference was always to the same booking #. Customers could not be sure that their questions were always answered by the same person or the same office.

We had stayed at this hotel 2 years ago so I knew what to expect. When we got there they tried to give us substandard rooms that stunk (on the 11th floor). I had reserved 2 rooms. We asked to see other rooms so we were shown one on the 17th floor (smelled by smoke) and when we did not want that one we were shown rooms on the 22nd floor. We took those. This was the room caliber of room I had expected. It was comfortable and did not smell. There was no fuss they gave us the room with no problem. We also got late check out without an issue. I got food poisoning in the Marco Polo lounge and had to be seen at the local hospital I would skip that restaurant, the food is not worth the price anyway. My son notified the food and beverage manager and he was very concerned and apologetic. He checked on me every day and hosted us for the Japanese buffet which was very good. Breakfast was great as usual. I am not afraid of the hotel food...I think the issue was a mistake by a cook that needed education (one dish was not heated to the appropiate temp). We had a good overall experience and I would stay there again, staying out of the Marco Polo lounge for sure!!

The hotel is located on good location. easy access to Night Bazar, many restaurants. Hotel staffs are very nice. Great breakfast with many choices in Asian & Europian Style. I stayed in a superior room. It's in good condition but there is no rinse spray hose in the toilet. That's only bad thing. Anyway, I still recommend this hotel and choose this hotel for next vacation as it's valuable.

The location is strategic(close to the night bazaar)n the hotel room is ok(spacious). However, the breakfast is below expectation especially Asian foods-noodles n fried rice are tasteless(expexted to hve the Thai style cooking but was dissapointed!)Fruits variety also very little.

Service of housekeeping is very slow. Check in hotel at 12.00pm but only get the towels at 1.00pm(after few intercomms). Same problem happened again next day. Room was cleanned but without towels until we intercommed hsekeeping at 6.00pm. The hotel lift also insufficient n inefficient(very slow!)

We have stayed in 4 different hotels in Chiang Mai and we found this one to be the best. Check-in was easy and quick. The room was clean and of adequate size with a good view of both the pool area and Chiang Mai. A problem with the safe was quickly corrected. The included breakfast was perhaps the best we have experienced anywhere in Asia. Noise from an adjoining room was a bit annoying. The selection of TV stations is limited and poor for the Western visitor. The charge for use of the hotel's wireless service is outrageous, especially when it is available a block away for 1/5 the hotel charge. Overall the hotel is good value; it's location close to the night market is great; and we would book there again.

very good hotel. we stayed there in the beginning and also in the end of our trip. very good breakfast. staff is amazing. We forgot a bag in a taxi. They looked in the security camera to identify the car, helped us to locate the driver. First time they gave as an upgrade to a larger room (we where with 2 kids). Second time the large room was not available, and the standard room was a bit too small for 4, they went with us to see several rooms, finally we decided to upgrade to a suit which was grate and worth every cent we added. We will return.

Good location near night bazaar and some restaurants as well. Breakfast buffet was beyond my expecations and included also yoghurt and muesli. The room (category deluxe) was rather small, its bathroom and carpet had both seen better days. Despite of requesting a nonsmoking room we got a room with a quite strong smell of cold cigarette smoke. The elevators are, as already mentioned here several times, extremly slow. Even the room was run down a bit already, I will stay at the Duangtawan again when in CM. Its more than worth the 1,650 BHT I paid for a night.

Accommodation and facilities:
Very nice hotel, one block from the Night Market and several excellent restaurants and amenities. Room clean and adequately sized, maintained. Curtain rod needed some repair. Breakfast buffet is unbelievable. Overall service superior. For example, when the internet service was disrupted, the head IT guy took me downstairs to his office and asked an assistant to let me use her computer so that I could finish up some important emails. We will definitely return whenever we re in Chiang Mai.

Reservation service:
Smooth overall. I still find the term double confusing. Does it mean one bed for two people, or two beds? I m figuring out that it means the former. We usually resolve the confusion by requesting a king-sized bed.

Nice rooms (deluxe) with douche cabin and enough storrage space. Large breakfast buffet and anything fresh. Perfect location - anything (Night Market, Fruit Market, Tour Agencies, MAC, Burger King, German Restaurant etc)just few minutes walk. Good shuttle bus to the airport and perfect porter service. All over a good place to stay

VEry good location. Walking distance to the nightmarket. Shuttle service stops at the hotel for trips to the Shopping mall. Rooms are very big and spacious. Excellent value for money. Highly recommended for those wanting to stay within the night market area. Lifts are very very slow. It is not enough to cater for the whole building. Be prepared for long waits.

Hotel is very good located, almost at corner from the night market. Breakfast is very good and the rooms clean and comfortable. The only minus; the cleaning of the room at afternoon. However I felt very comfortable staying at this hotel

The hotel was really nice. Awesome pool. Elevators were really slow, you could be standing on a floor waiting for one or four elevators for 10 minutes. Stupid complaint, but it was annoying. Other than that, everything great!

Very good for the price and in an excellent location right in the night bazzar. The hotel is big and the rooms are a decent size with all you would expect in a hotel of this size/price. The breakfast buffet had a huge selection of asian and western food. I would stay here asgain.

Duangtawan Hotel is very convenient to tourist. Good Location especially to night bazaar. Deluxe room is big enough for 2 adults and 2 child. Lif is very slow and always full especially during weekends. To be safe, better stay in low rise floor so that u have a choice using the staircase.

We loved our stay at the Centara Duangtawan Hotel. It is just arround the corner of the Chiang Mai Night Market (which we liked best in Thailand). The children loved the pool and the breakfast buffet is offering such a big choice.

Not recommended. Xtremely noisy neighbor bathrooms will surely keep you awake at night. Waiting for the very, very slow elevators is unpleasant,if not a real pain in the neck. Although the hotel staff knew about the wireless facility not being operational, they kept selling wifi access!!! To my knowledge the system has been down most of the time during my stay. The breakfast staff is absolutely non professional and should be send to a crash course to next doors Royal Princess. It would make such a difference!!

Great location, close to everything in central Chiang Mai. Rooms are big but look a little drab. Bathrooms were nice with seperate bath and shower. Good buffet breakfast. Very nice pool with good gym. Staff seemed nice. If you are looking for an upgrade from the Suriwongse but can't afford the Imperial Mae Ping, stay here.

We were very dissatisfied with the hotel. There was loud construction in the lobby (or next to it) the room was absolutely filthy, the phone didn't work and the view amenity was not as shown/described by the listing. The internet service never worked the entire time we were there and we were not refunded our fee for that. We insisted on being upgraded and they did accommodate us - otherwise we would have walked out. I should say, in all fairness, that the hotel staff were very nice and the location was excellent, however.

Surprisingly, there were no issues booking through SiamWebHosting.com - and I would do it again...however users need a phone number that answers consistently and someone who speaks good English, so questions can be answered oversees before arrival.
