Hotel very good, but. Ordered a Deluxe river-view premier, the view was a garden view, with very little river to see. Later after a water leak from the bathroom above, we had to change rooms. They told us they would upgrade us, but as far as I am concerned, it was actually the room that we ordered from the beginning. After complaining, the manager and everyone else could not be nicer. Also on the last day because of a late flight,they also gave us a room to shower and change before going to the airport. Breakfast very good,but room service I would not recommend. The tour desk, could or would not organise a trip that we wanted, they were more interested in trying to sell us something that they wanted and not us. I organised this in a different hotel with absolute no problems and cheaper.

During the past 10 years I and friends have stayed at the Spa seven times. The staff persons are fantastic as always. It seems that the management felt it necessary to roll back some of the services, due to the decrease in guest. I guess was due to the economy, It was most apparent in the complimentary breakfast service areas, only half of the stations were open. While the number of guest and the service was reduced there was no similar reduction in price. It seems to be common problem with not getting the type of room requested. I had requested and paid for a jr suite, river view, non smoking. Upon arriving at the room at 0200, no river view. When I advised the desk after awaking I was promptly moved to a river view, but it was NOT like any of the previous suite or jr suites I had been in at the Spa, neither in size nor furnishings. This similar thing had happened previously and I spoke to two other guest on this stay who had the same problem and the same observation. I pointed this out when I got up, was told that it was indeed a suite.. I shall no longer return to the MRS, on my two trips since the last stay, I have stayed across the river in a true suite with two large rooms and wonderful views from both rooms at about 100 usd per night less. Same good food, same great type of service staff, and I did get the room requested on the first try. Oh and the Marriott River Spa does not give rewards points for reservations booked thru Siamservices. Lovely buildings and very good working staff, poor local management decisions will lead to a death of a thousand cuts if persons making these types of decisions do not re evaluate. My and friends shall book across the river, overprice for not receiving a jr suite and to think I should not know the difference. Reduction is service maybe, but do not increase the prices of already rather pricy rooms in conjunction. sadly van

This hotel was chosen based on having facilities suitable for travelling with a 6 year old ie western food on menu and large swimming pool - in these terms the hotel delivers well enough although I am not entirely convinced we received the Junior Suite we had booked (compared with internet photos) - but the room was clean and large and suited us fine so we didn't follow this up. The hotel lacks atmosphere being a large chain hotel, but the facilities are good and the resort is spotlessly clean. Breakfast was also a highlight even compared with other Thailand Hotels in which we have stayed including the Mandarin Oriental.

This was our first time to Thailand (Bangkok) and were really pleased with the hotel overall. True to its resort name, the Bangkok Marriott Resort & Spa is a great oasis/getaway. The room was clean and quite, the view (we chose a deluxe river view room and were lucky enough to get a corner) was good for what it was, and the bed was quite comfortable. The hotel staff were all very friendly and understood English (for the most part), and the concierge was especially helpful in helping us plan out tour/shopping routes--including helping give us approximate taxi/Tuk-tuk fair prices--which you'll quickly learn is very useful. In terms of facilities, we used the pool (6:00am--11:00pm) almost every day, and took advantage of the poolside Happy Hour (2-for-1 of the same drink, 4:00--6:00pm) more than once. The pool was also never really that crowded, which was nice. If you re really eager I suggest you try swimming at 6:00am or so--it's like having a private pool to yourself. Breakfast (included with our room) was buffet-style, but included an ample selection of both western and Thai food to make it appealing even over five days. The only restaurant in the resort we went to was Benihana, which was overpriced (and is NOT Japanese food) but was tasty and provided a great show. The fitness facilities are 24 hours, and offer a proper selection of machines, free weights and weight machines (I ve stayed at a lot of hotels and I was quite pleased with these ones). The mini mall directly across the street from the hotel was great, and includes three massage places that offer good service for a cost that a sixth of that at the hotel. Similarly there are a few Thai restaurants that offer good value and great portions . During our stay we also attended the Cruise run by the hotel--and while it is expensive (drinks are not included in the ticket price), the meal was good, the volume great, and the tour memorable. In terms of location, as the hotel is located away from downtown (but easily accessible via the free shuttle boat), I would also recommend that one takes advantage of the fact and go on a speedboat tour to the Wat Po and the Imperial palace. We took the long way around, and got to experience the back rivers and slums, which we both felt were an important part of our experience. Overall I d rate the resort 4.5/5--definitely good value for your money, a memorable experience, easily accessible (via boat/monorail or taxi) to downtown and all of the major historical/sightseeing locations.

This was our 2nd visit to this hotel. Our previous visit was 18 months ago and based on the exceptional experience then, we decided to select this hotel again on our visit to Bangkok. This time, the hotel was exceptionally busy and looked like it was fully booked. This impacted our experience at breakfast where we had to wait for up to 10 minutes to be seated every morning during our stay. Also this resulted in people crowding over the various food stations at breakfast, which made breakfast a rather frenetic and stressful experience. The food however was of an exceptional standard and plentiful. Management was always visible during breakfast times and regularly interacted with guests. Due to the number of guests, service by staff was poor (probably due to the Sonkrang festival)and we had to constantly flag down a waiter. The furnishings in the hotel was not as plush as it was 18 months ago (probably due to wear and tear)and detracted from the 5 star experience. Our room was exceptionally clean, but there was a damp smell after using the shower. Due to this experience, I would probably use another hotel next time I visit Bangkok. I would still recommmend the hotel for the resort feel, but it needs to be refurbished.

Lovely hotel set on the river with great boat link to the skytrain which is pretty important for getting around bangkok. We has a good room overlooking the pool area and onto the river which was well supplied and spacious. Breakfast wasa good experience and sadly missed when we left. On the down side EVERYTHING was soo over priced! I know this should be expected at a city hotel but it put us off eating and drinking at the hotel as the up mark was soo extreme. A bit of a let down but still a good hotel in a nice location.

Good place to stay with great food and service. Rooms are spacious and well set out. We stayed for two nights to take our young children to DreamWorld (worth a visit for a good inexpensive day out) but is more suited for couples then young families for a longer period. This is the second year we have stayed there for a short period and would do so again.

fantastic hotel, staff very helpful, we had deluxe room overlooking pool and river area and it was gorgeous, best breakfast choice we have ever seen and it was delicious. great restaurants within hotel also. hotel very well situated as free river ferry to Sathon pier and then sky train to anywhere in city. beware of rip off tuk tuk drivers!!!!! all great fun though.. definately be back to stay here if in Bangkok again... well recommended..

Excellent hotel. GR8 food, excellent service, nice pool. Minuses: Very expensive, if you eat or drink at the htl. Room air not completely fresh. Shuttle to skytrain st very handy and feels luxurious to wipe urself with a fresh towel on a boat, after a hard days shopping in town. Small minus: staff was constantly asking for written feedback but did not have too much coordination about our needs, resulting in asking for more coffee 4 times in a row in 10 minutes. Would recommend and come back again.

What an excellent place to stay! Friendly staff, immaculate facilities, good sized rooms, huge pool, lovely balconies so you can sit outside and watch the action on the river. Most hotels in Bangkok are like office towers with no opening windows or balconies so the Marriott is special in this regard. The restaurants/bars are superb. The health spa was excellent although had spa prices. Make sure you book a river view room as the balconies are a good size and the view out over the pool to the river is so relaxing. I highly recommend this resort - even though it is on the other side of the river from the shopping and temples, it makes up for that in luxury and space. And the ferry/skytrain makes it very easy to get around and a nice way to see Bangkok. We have stayed at the Marriott twice and each time it was excellent.

Cannot find any complains, only good memories(Traders Vic's might adjust their wine celler 4 degrees down to 17 deg C. but that is a minor thing). Absolutely the best hotel in Bangkok. Having just spent 3 nights there I would most definitely recommend this hotel for many reasons. The service is excellent; it's location by the river and it's free shuttle boat service to Centre Pier which gives immediate access to the Tourist Boat and to the BTS Skytrain is brilliant. Breakfasts are to die for and the swimming pool area is breathtaking. We enjoyed a deluxe double room with river view. Don't hesitate - book it if you re planning on visiting Bangkok.

The Bangkok Marriott Resort and Spa is truly amazing. Away from the noise of the city on the banks of the river but the city itself is easily reachable with a complimentary shuttle boat every 15 mins takes you to the skytrain which is easy and very cheap under £1 for 2 of us to get to the main shopping area. The hotel grounds are massive and plenty of bars and restaurants in there a bit pricey but worth it all the same. I recommend this hotel very much and when i go back to Bangkok will be going back there

Wery good choise if you bring children to stay in Bangkok. We had a nice stay at Marriott, and feelt there was a wonderful service. The room was a big jr.suite in the corner with wery good standard. Big balcony around, you cold look at the river and relax. Quiet place. Our two children (1,5 and 3,5 years) liked it because of playroom and nice swimmingpool. Good restaurants, -the best choise of breakfast we have seen in Thailand! If you think about enjoy dinner at the river boats, -be aware you have to order at hotel wery early. This hotel is absolutley recomended. We come back next time in Bangkok.

A very enjoyable stay. Staff were excellent even with Tea, Coffee & Juice to the room after a very early morning wake up call to get flight home. Excellent facilities within the Hotel Grounds. The shuttle boat to and from the other side was excellent and the cool hand towells and chilled water were greatly appreciated after hot days out. Breakfast was first class and even allowed early entry when going on tours. Staff allowed us to go in at 5.40am when breakfast did not officially start until 6.00am. Very conviently located shopps across from Lobby with Sizler, Macca s, KFC and Pizza Shop if you want Western style food. Will definitely stay again when back in Bangkok.

I think I managed to find the best hotel to stay at for the short time that we had in Bangkok. Great location, free boat to sky train & river boat transport (100baht for whole day unlimited travel on river boat) made our time for sightseeing & shopping easy, especially the cold towels & drink provided on the boat at the end of the day. The Marriot is a beautiful hotel, our room was very comfortable & clean. The only small problem we had was the price of a Singha Beer in the Elephant Bar $$$?? Aside from that, an enjoyable lovely stay. Thankyou.

Wonderful hotel, assuming you are ok with european prices for everything. We got upgdraded to a junior suite and had nearly two days use of pool, restaurants, fitness club etc despite a one day stay - ideal place if you are checking out at 12.00 but not flying out of bangkok until the evening. Food buffets, facilities and service were all great. Worth splashing the extra out for 1-2 nights if you already budgetted for the 100 euro+ category.

A tryly wonderful place in almost every respect! Big with lots of everything. Several good resturants. Nice garden, excellent big pool! Good ferry service to the Sky Train. Good roooms, although our AC broke down once. As a compensation we got a bigger room and a free buffet dinner, which was among the best food we ever had (and we have been around the world...). Lots of staff and very nice staff too, with good command of english. Not really anything to complain about except that we had to leave after four nights...

All previous reviews were correct. Tropical feel of the resort, cool towel and water on the way back from a hectic day of shopping was great! Food was expensive, service at the Trader Vics was EXTREMELY POOR. Took almost an hour to receive the entree, dishes fell to the floor twice and wrong food order was delivered to our table. Other than that, I would definitely recommend this hotel!

Was a bit disappointed to be honest. Room had two double beds joined when we asked for a king size. They were permanent in room so guess thats what you get if you ask for king size. Room was bit old for price. On the other hand breakfasts were nice. Good location and excellent free boat ride every 15min to Bangkok. Staff very friendly. There is a local shopping mall with very cheap food about 2minutes walk away and also has KFC, Sizzlers, Pizza Place etc for those who need a break from Thai food. Thai places in mall are great. Restaurant food expensive but has good variety. Recommend Thai Kitchen Cooking Class in Bangkok. Very handy with skytrain about 1min walk from pier. Also dental work VERY cheap and worth doing if you can squeeze in one day. (About 1/4 price of in NZ and good service-Silom Dental where we went and would recoommend them). Marriott is in great location. Was a bit overcrowded in pool etc for our liking but for big resort pretty good. Gym facilities pretty good too! And they were happy to let you use shower etc prior to late checkout.
